Abi's weightloss diary - post jaw surgery

i'm having a bit of a dilemma. we are actually incredibly skint and with christmas coming i'm really struggling with being able to afford cd, but obviously don't want to come off it... so i really don't know what to do. when skint in the past i have started to eat very cheaply, as in £10 a week cheaply. i can't do that now. and i really really don't know what to do as every month my overdraft is £100 worse than it was before...

i could move up the plans a bit to reduce the amount of shakes i buy but i don't want my weight loss to slow down that much. i'm in a bit of a pickle!!

thats a tough one... is there any way you could agree with people over christmas a no presents rule? and look into any other expenses, see if you could get them down a bit? it depends what you'd prefer to do but either way i suppose something's gotta give. xxx

well i have my supplies for another week and my bank account is down £40. i could buy cheaper cd products but i wouldn't be able to get them down. i seem to be going through a 'i only like bars and choc tetras and i don't have the will to make anything else' phase. i'll just have to see how i go. at the end of the day i need to lose this weight. i'm thinking if i can keep it up for another month, even though we'll be skint (and we do spend the odd bit of stupid money. so we could cut back more) then at least i will (hopefully, if the scales will bloody move) be about a stone closer to goal and ready to move up the plans anyways. i don't know. i really need to think about it during the next week. part of it is also that i am starting to feel comfortable with my size. but i'm still not in a healthy bmi so i can't stop yet.

i think when i do come off and start moving up the plans i want to stay as low refined carbs as possible. but then the cd plans are all low gi. hopefully i will be able to start my cd training just after christmas, get my applications etc in before christmas, and before i'm qualified i need to reach bmi 28. i think that's about a stone and a half from where i am. not sure though. so i need to stick with it really. once i'm cdcing a lot of our financial troubles will be a thing of the past. obviously not immediately. it takes time to build up a client base etc. and it's hard work. but at least there will be the potential of a bit of a break. and hopefully, come april/may, i will get a pay rise too. but in the current climate, who knows. *sigh*

sorry for ranting. i just don't know what to do about it really. the interest on my overdraft is loads. it's an agreed overdraft, so it's not masses, but more than i'd like to be paying!!

there are so many things to think about at the mo. part of me just wants to say 'sod it. we're not moving house, or even thinking of it, until we're married and settled' etc. but i know that really i want to get the ball rolling on that too. my brain wants to explode...

off to have a bath. with an agatha christie. it's the comfort food of the reading world, ha.

Hi Abz, sorry to hear you're troubles, I hope you feel better after your bath... xxxx

Heya hun, jeez its hard to know what to do. i think your should keep going with cd though i know xmas is coming up and that but you have done so well you dont want xmas to come and go then get back into cd again. what does himself think?

ps hope you have a nice bath. you love your baths :) xx

you sound like your in the same sort of predicament as me, i too need to stay on cd to become a cdc, but could really do without the expense.
obviously cd is the fastest way of you getting to target too, you have to see cd as a way of making money in the future too, so it is a sort of start up business expense, try and cut bck on other things for a while. I`ve agreed a 2 week break with my cdc over christmas, so i save myself £80, but then eating really healthy or atkins are quite expensive anyway.
good luck with whatever you decide x

Sorry to hear you are feeling the pinch. TBH I would beg, steal and borrow to stay on CD if I were you, especially as you want to become a CDC after Christmas. I'm sure SlimFast might be cheaper? And I'm sure peeps do manage to continue losing weight up the plans, but they never come back here and tell us about it. They seem to disappear when they have to come off CD for financial reasons, have you not noticed that?

All that I can suggest is that you try and shop around for a cheaper overdraft. A&L were offering to match your overdraft and it was free for a year, but maybe not anymore. Also, there are still some 0% credit cards around. Have you anything you can sell on ebay? Could you advertise in the local paper to fix people's laptops? Always a demand for that!

The other thing I can suggest is google a BMI calculator and put your height in, then keep putting weights in, until you find out what weight you need to be to have a BMI of 28.

Good luck, hang in there

well i need to be 12 st 10. so that's 1 st 4 i need to lose (not counting last week's rather strange 4lb gain that i am hoping will all be gone by next weigh in or i'll cry). i have another week's worth in any case. although now all i have are bars and tetras. ha. there's no doubt that i stay in ketosis because otherwise i'd be ravenous all the time. so i really should be losing.

hopefully my measurements will show something promising...

also, i don't know if i have to be 28 or under or 28.something. so 28.7 or something like that. but i'll find all this out next week. am having a long meeting with cdc next monday or tuesday when i'm off work during the day. so i'm rather excited about that :)

we'll see how we go this week i suppose. at the moment i feel like i'm spending masses of money on no results but hopefully i'll get a sudden whoosh... i live in hope.

OH thinks i should keep on doing it. at least until christmas, when hopefully i should be able to start moving up the plans anyway, if my weight moves...

Morning Abz,

Sounds like you have loads going on at the moment, always the way when you need to concentrate your efforts. You have done so well I think it would be a shame to stop now.

I am going without christmas presents this year from any brothers and sisters and so are they, this has saved us £200. I have also asked OH not to buy me anything as I would rather spend the money on CD.

Have you got anything you could sell?? What about the clothes you no longer fit into? stick them on E-bay? old books, CD's? anything really. Anything which isn't pinned down or worn in my house goes on there and it really does help our bank balance.

Nina

i have never sold anything on ebay. it all seems such an effort!! but we probably have loads of stuff that could go on there to be honest. but it isn't like we have NOTHING. it's just that with me on cd things are tight and every time we spend a bit of money on doing something other than being in the house we end up with nothing. so we could just do nothing that costs any extra money... ha. i may look into the ebay thing... but i'm a bit of a hoarder...

im sorry i cant help you hun, well unless you want my toffee and walnut shakes i have left.xx

ha. no thanks hon. i would need to keep buying them from my cdc regardless. will just have to see how we go this week i guess.

it's so easy, especially this time of year. as long as your adverts are honest i.e. if something is not perfect don't say it is, then you will be fine.

We sold some toys/games which Lauren had recently and she made £50 which she is spending on presents for family. the stuff which wasn't worth selling on there she took to the church for the children to play with :D

Anyway I am a horder too, so I know to think about it can be daunting but if you are moving soon too then it is probably just the right time to have a sort out.

Nx

this is very true... i suppose soon i'll have lots of clothes to give away *sniff* but i really like them all *sniff again* but while they still fit...

i'm not sure. when i think about everything i have to sell, i'm not sure there's much. a lot of what i hoard are memory things. which i wouldn't want to sell anyways... hmm. i will think on it. look into it perhaps. see what's involved. is it hard to do?

abz xx

No it is really easy, just make sure you put on a reserve price (the lowest price you will accept) and charge for postage (be realistic if something is heavy!) we have even sold cars on there! :8855: I call my husband Del Boy cause he loves it so if you need any help give me a shout and I can help.

That little bit of extra income could really help.

Nx

thanks mrsT :)

no clue what i'll sell though. OH has loads of stuff. i'll get him to find anything he doesn't want. unfortunately he's just had a huge clearout and i have a feeling that it all went in the bin... but if it went in the bin then it won't have been any good for the charity shop even... although there were knife stands and things that probably would have sold on ebay... ah well...

abz xx

Hey Abz, sorry to hear about the financial pinch - you know I hear you on the impact of that :sigh: Selling on ebay can be fun, and occasionally profitable so worth considering. Not sure what else to suggest, but didn't want to read and run....

thanks dq. i think if i really money-managed us this month we could be ok, but at the end of the day it's christmas and i don't really want christmas to be that way... so it looks as if the overdraft might be taking a beating again this month. but maybe ebay will dent it in the other direction a bit...
