Been on a diet for nearly 40 years!

    Hi just thought I would introduce myself. I have been on a every diet know to man. I was put on my first one when I was 8 and now I am 46 thats nearly 40 years of constant dieting!! I have now finally come to the conclusion that I have to change my whole attitude to food and it has to be a complete life change! I am 18st 3lbs at the moment and I can't take it anymore. I want to be slimmer when I reach 50 and that is not far away. I only feel like I am in my 20's but everytime I look in the mirror reality dawns!:eek: So I am hoping to find the help and support I desparately need. This time has to be 'the time'! Looking forward to getting to know everyone......................:D

    I meant to put this in the introduction forum, this is all new to me, think its going to take me some time to get a handle on it!!! Sorry if it's in the wrong place.:eek:

    Anyway, welcome :)

    Your post could have been written by me 5 years ago. I felt like dieting was my way of life. I knew everything about every diet, as I had done them all :sigh: A professional dieter :rolleyes:

    My last diet was when I was in my late 40s. I weighed a little more than you, and just wanted to get it all off quick with the promise to myself that after that, I would never diet again.

    Kept to it to.

    It's really weird having a head that now doesn't diet. Same size clothes in the wardrobe. No mad panic when an event is coming up. Hey...even get to wear the same clothes each summer if I want :D

    It's a very odd, but liberating feeling after so long dieting on/off.

    And yes it really is a life style change, and a new head approach to food.

    I've been dieting on and off for 2/3 of my life so know what it's like :)

    Welcome to the site, I'm new here myself and it seems like a great place for advice and support!

    Hi and welcome. I first started to diet 37 years ago when I thought I was overweight and went to a slimming club. I wasn't overweight at all.

    Put on a few stones when my son was born 34 years ago and still trying to lose the excess.

    We will get there
