Blisters!!

My exercise had been going so well so thought today, with it still being sunny, that i'd go for a walk. I did a route ive done many times before but usually wear trainers and never had a problem. Anyway, i bought some new walking shoes a couple of months ago and thought id give them a proper outing! Id worn these a couple of times before but only for short distances and never had a problem. However, my 4 mile walk may have been a bit silly!

Im now suffering from nasty blisters on both heels, which were red raw when i took my shoes off.

Question is, if i put plasters on am i ok to keep exercising? I started 30 day shred 5 days ago and really dont wanna break off. Or would i just be making them worse and prolonging the healing time? Never had blisters this bad before and to be honest im not even sure if i can get my trainers on even with plasters!

On the plus side though, the first half of my walk was lovely :)

Ouchie!

30 Day Shred is a DVD isn't it? Could you do it au naturale in bare feet? Some say it's better for you.

I think putting anything on your feet for a few days might be a tad sore.........

Yeh i thought about doing it without shoes but wasnt sure if that was bad for your ankles or anything. But thinking about it, wasnt there a runner who used to run in bare feet?! so cant be too bad, i may try :)

Ouchie :-(

Bright spark over here went for a 3 mile walk in flip flops yesterday :'( safe to say I won't be doing that again!

Well done on doing the 30 day shred, sounds scary x

well i did it. whilst the workout was fine, and i felt it was a bit easier i really didnt like doing it barefoot!

Ouch!!!! Get yourself some blister plasters the ones you leave on til they fall off really good cushioning and keep blisters hidden from bugs etc.

ooo never heard of those, do they sell them anywhere or just boots/pharmacy places?

Thank you, i will keep an eye out tomorrow when shopping. Just hope it doesnt rain as i need to live in my flip flops for a few days!

I bought some in Morrisons, they are bliss! They are their own make, so cheaper.

Well, today is not a good day. Had a bit of a naff nights sleep as everytime i moved i woke up as my heels must have rubbed the covers. Anyway, as the day has gone on, one of my blisters seems to have developed a bit of a yellow 'weep' and is very sore. Then this afternoon i noticed the ankle on that foot had swelled and the further the afternoon went, my whole foot has swollen up. Not sure if theres signs of an infection there so gonna see how it goes tomorrow but right now im find it difficult to walk! :(

You need to see a doctor ASAP. I had exactly the same thing and within a day I couldn't put my foot down and had to have anti biotics for it.. Call the doc and see them ASAP x

Well went to the docs this morning and it is infected. Been given antibiotics and told to avoid driving and rest it as much as possible to get swelling down. My temperature was also slighty raised which is another sign of infection.

So guys, keep an eye on those blisters!

Thanks guys.

My mentality must be on the right track though cos my first thought was 'oh no, i cant do my 30 day shred workout!' lol
