Do you always need doctors consent?

Hi all,

I'm 25 with BMI of 31 - I just want to know whether if you have no medical issues if you still need a doctors signature? I'm between doctors at the moment so unlikely to be able to get a signature for at least three weeks whilst records are transferred etc and I want to start asap.
