exercise on CD

I have restarted CD today. I want to increase my fitness aswell as lose weight. Although at around 16.5 stones I am far too big to start regularly exercising as my joints ache and i swell up just walking my dog. My plan is to shift a few stones before starting an exercise regime but I have been told by other CDers that you shouldn't exercise on VLCD's now im not talking about high impact aerobics or anything but just something to get the heart rate up. Does anyone know anything about exercise and VLCD's I basically dont want to lose the weight but still be catastrophically unfit.

I think it'd be sensible to have a chat with your GP. If you're on a VCLD it may be difficult to do anything too energetic. I'd definitely get the doc's advice before starting.
