Hi everyone have just rejoined this forum. Mainly post on the Discovery Health VCLD sites but miss the posts from Isobel and Mike !! Not sure if you remember me either of you but you were both an inspiration to me last year and i LOVED your posts Isobel - we did have a giggle ! I too was going to become a CD counsellor but have had a disastrous year ! Briefly my husband had a recurrence of his cancer folllowing a 5 year all clear but this time it was in his spine. He was admitted into hosp last July and was basically there for 9 months ! He had 7 operations and contracted a serious chest infection in October last year and was in intensive care on a ventilator for weeks. We were told he would not survive and we spent Christmas with him in a hospice ! amazingly he did pull through and he returned home in Marchj and we are gradually getting our lives back together ! Our daughter Kate nominated us for Good Housekeeping Family of the Year and incredibly we have got down to the final 4. Our story and video can be viewed on the GH website under Food then Cheerios and GH Family of the Year !
Weight loss wise it was a disaster - Rob (husband) lost more than 4 stone when he did not need to loose any and I gained 3 stone when I did not need to put on any !! In march shortly after Rob came home I embarked on another weight loss journey and have managed to loose 2 stone on CD. I stuck to ss for 8 weeks then have been doing it Mon-FRi and having a break at weekends. It seems to be working ok - still could do with loosing prob another stone but our time is precious now and feel I want to spend time socialising with Rob and the family at weekends at least ! Rob was actually tube fed for over 5 months so it is a pleasure to see him eat normally again. i am desperately trying to feed him up with high calorie snacks but it is not working very well !!
Anyway am back on track and we are doing really well as a family the children have been brilliant and the support we have received from friends, family and these forums has been phenomenal ! So glad Isobel and Mike you are both doing so well - you really helped me loose the weight before and am sure you are both brilliand counsellors - i even remember you embarking on your training !!
Have just done 5 days on foodpacks and feeling great - we are going to friends on Sunday for a meal so at least I can join in without feeling too guilty !
Hope everyone else is having a good day Gaye x
