So, this is my first ever foray into Slimming World, I feel a bit uncertain. Everyone keeps saying how simple it is but it looks quite complicated to me! A food diary might help - at least for me to keep a track of what I'm eating. If anyone reads it and wants to add anything to help me get it right, that would be most appreciated. I probably should add that I'm not going to meetings and I've not joined SW at all, I just have a starter pack I bought off a friend who bought it on Ebay! I might join up, if it works for me. Then again, if it works for me, I might save my money!!

Today is my first day.

Breakfast:
28g gluten free muesli (I prefer it soaked)
a banana
a peach
some plums
some blueberries
soya milk (from my 350mls HEA)

Re the gf muesli - I have a gluten intolerance and oats are the worst cuplrits for me. GF muesli isn't included in the list of HEAs but I'm pretending it is. Mine is homemade from millet flakes, seeds, flaked almonds, raisins, dates and coconut flakes and I'd stake my life on it being healthier than Jordans!!

Lunch:
leftover chicken with onion, peppers and mushrooms in spicy tomato sauce from the enchilladas I made yesterday - 4 Syns
a big salad
boiled egg

Snack:
1 slice wholemeal bread with reduced fat butter and marmite - 5 Syns

Dinner:
Homemade bean and carrot burgers, roast butternut squash wedges, garlic mushrooms with soy sauce, and corn on the cob
3 plums

I'm currently drinking the rest of my soya milk (my HEA), which is good, as I usually just don't drink enough

Looking back at yesterday, I feel quite pleased. Only one snack?! I did have my breakfast quite late though. I guess it helps that I'm off work this week so able to make lunch fresh.

Resisting the urge to weigh myself already - it's only been 2 days since I last did!! Don't be silly! I want it to hurry up and be next Tuesday so I can see if I've lost any weight - but then again I don't because that's when I go back to work....

Breakfast:
2 Quorn sausages
2 rashers of bacon, all fat removed
Baked beans

Lunch:
1.5 leftover bean burgers
Mushroom omelette
salad
1/2 apple

Snack:
pineapple and melon

Dinner:
Tabbouleh (made with couscous, onions, tomatoes, peppers, cucumber, mint and parsley)
Homemade hummous (2 Syns)
Carrot and orange salad
Wholemeal pitta (HEB)
Fruit salad
Low fat Greek yoghurt (1 Syn)

Snack:
Wholemeal pitta (7.5 Syns)
Low fat philly (HEA)

Total Syns 10.5

Seems to me that you have understood the plan fine. (as to the muesli - just see how it goes.... if you lose weight with it, then go for it... if not, it may be worth checking out the syns of it... its sounds lovely though)

Friday 23rd August - Day 3 in the Slimming World House!

Lee says SW is much better than WW, he much prefers the stuff I'm making!

Breakfast:
Wholemeal pitta (HEB)
1 tsp low fat butter (1.5 Syns)
Banana

Snack:
half banana

Lunch:
parsley omelette with quark
tabbouleh
carrot and orange salad
apple

Snack:
slice of wholemeal bread with low fat butter and marmite (5.5 Syns)

Dinner:
chilli (extra lean turkey mince, red kidney beans, sweet potato, butternut squash, carrots, celery, tinned toms, onions, garlic, harissa powder, stock cube, marmite and about an ounce of plain chocolate in the whole panful, and I had maybe a 6th) (1 Syn)

2.25lbs off! Yay me!

Wednesday 28th August - day 8

Difficult day today as I'm working 9am to 8pm. I get a break at 12 and another at 4.15. I always find these days difficult, as by 8pm I'm so tired and feel so sorry for myself that I tend to want to eat chocolate or toast with golden syrup or chips when I get home.

Ok, so we'll just gloss over Friday (tough day, uncomfortable conversation needed to be had with The Mother, there was stress and a cocktail and eventually there was cake), and Saturday (double gin after work led to inappropriate evening of wine and chocolate pudding)....

Looking in the mirror this morning while I was getting dressed, I think I could actually see some difference round my middle!!

Dammit! Forgot to get on the scales this morning till I'd been up for quite a while and drunk loads of coffee!! So I'll wait till tomorrow.
