14. Can those taking the Cambridge Diet sole source donate blood?
The matter at issue here is whether the extra iron and protein lost in the donation of under one pint of blood is significant whilst using the Cambridge Diet sole source.
Calculations demonstrate that these losses would be compensated for over the next week or so. Hence, in an emergency (i.e. if dieter has a rare blood group which is required urgently) a donation may be given.
On the other hand it seems sensible not to increase the losses over this period unless it is an emergency and our advice is: do not give a routine blood donation while using the Cambridge Diet sole source.
