Sorry to hear of the head pain !, It could be a number of things ..... change of diet, stress, dehydration, you mention sugar,, do you suffer any degree of Hypoglycemia.

Hypoglycemia or
hypoglycaemia is the medical term for a
pathologic state produced by a lower than normal level of
blood glucose. The term
hypoglycemia literally means "under-sweet blood" (
Gr. hypo-,
glykys,
haima).
Hypoglycemia can produce a variety of
symptoms and effects but the principal problems arise from an inadequate supply of glucose as fuel to the
brain, resulting in impairment of function (
neuroglycopenia). Derangements of function can range from dysphoria or "feeling bad" to
coma,
seizures, and (rarely) permanent brain damage or death. Hypoglycemia can arise from many causes and can occur at any age. It also sometimes occurs at what appears to be random intervals.
Have introduced something new into you diet, as the slightest of changes can set of headaches.
The hayfever period is now with us, do you suffer from this ?
Are you on medication ? side effect of many medications are headaches.
Do wear glasses, are you due a eye check up, or similarly have you had a eye check up within the last year. Have you been doing any close up work, screen work. Extensive Night driving, Driving in bright sunlight without sunglasses.
