Hit a wall :(

Hi everyone, when I joined slimming world 15 weeks ago I was at my heaviest (17st 5.5lb)
In that 15 weeks I have lost 1st 11.5lb and I have reached the weight (15st 8lb)
My last few losses have been smaller than usual (1lb - 0.5lb each week) when I am trying really hard to get a good loss.
But I have always found it hard to get past this weight when I have been losing weight.
As I have been between 15-16st since 2008. It was only last year that I got to my highest weight.

Is it just a matter of that my body will catch up with me, or could it be something else?
I have been to my GP on several occasions and had blood tests done and they have all come back fine.
I was then put on the health quest gym on prescription by my doctor and I have been going to the gym while being a member of slimming world, so why is my weight loss slowing down? :(

Sorry to ramble, just it's not very motivating seeing the scales say the same thing to you when you are trying so hard to lose weight.
Has any one else experienced this sort of thing before?

Have you taken your measurements? Sometimes the scales don't show much while the measurements are going down, when you're excersising.

Also, your weight loss might need a boost? You could try one of the other slimming world plans, or try a different excersise, maybe some zumba or swimming? Just advice that I've read on here and in magazines and stuff, it could work! Give it a try x

Thanks Rochelle, yeah I took my measurements when I started Slimming World and then again when I reached Club 10.
All together I had lost 15inches in total, and I can see a difference in myself and people have noted how different I look.

I had been doing Extra Easy so far, we have just swapped consultants at my group and she told me to try more syns.
But I have changed to green this week instead. So i'll try this for a week or two and if still no result I'll try original.

I have just started training for a stair climbing event this week that I'm doing for charity in October. So hopefully that may help.

I find that when I exercise I don't loose weight, so I stopped for 2 weeks, lost 2 lbs in total! Had a curry week, lost 1.5lbs. exercised for 1 week every day, maintained, explain that!! Getting harder as I reached my 3rd Target....

Hey LJ, I had exactly the same problem. Only way round it is sheer determination/Stuborness!! Like you I was doing everything right and exercising and couldn't figure it out. But I kept at it and something suddenly shifted. It may well be that your body is trying to adjust to the 'new lifestyle'.. Not quite sure how hun but I just stuck at it and tried not to get too upset by the non moving scales. You know SW works, just keep at it. Measurements really help too - in a month where I lost absolutely nothing I took an inch off waist and 1/2 inch off thighs!

Good luck hun x

Why don't you try varying your food up? I eat pretty much the same stuff all the time and have been told that my body will get used to this and it will effect my losses.

There's a challenge thread somewhere where you have a different hexB everyday or make sue you have a different breakfast. Maybe join that?

Don't feel too disheartened though as that's when it's so easy to slip back intoning habits and you may find the weight (and then some) slips back on too.

This.

Switch plans as often as you like, by the day if you want, keep your intake varied and interesting. Make sure you drink enough water. Some people do find exercise can slow losses, others don't have a problem with that and find it helps.

Go back to basics, make sure you measure all your Hexs, have plenty of super free, and see how it goes.

I would agree with the switching plans theory. It mixes things up a bit. I do red and green and got to target on these. Drink loads of water, loads of superfree ie melon and strawberries, eat brekky as soon as you wake up, get on the scan bran! I know, but it seems to help loads of people in my group. Hope this helps :)

When I last did slimming world I had weeks where I maintained, in fact it was eight weeks in a row. I just keep asking myself why those numbers weren't moving. Started getting strange thoughts that there was something wrong with me, like some weird creature had hidden in my body and was putting more weight on those scales than there should be. I felt angry at myself even though I knew I was being good, I started redoing my food diaries just to make sure. None the less I stuck to it and then it suddenly started again.

The thing was I was so busy focusing on the numbers that I didn't notice my body was changing, my stress over those numbers probably prolonged the sts too. My advice is to go back to the beginning and look at what had worked for you, if EE was what worked do that, just remember that no matter what you WILL shift the weight if you keep to it, t might take a while and you may feel like pulling out our hair in frustration but if it were easy we would have done it alone and not pay almost five pounds a week at group.

You may feel like you've got a sign above you saying loser when you go in group, but no one there or on here will ever think that, we all know what you are going through and we are all here for you. It's only over when you give up, if you feel like that then come on here and well help pick you back up again. Stick to it, follow it properly and you'll feel happier, healthier and the change will come.

You say you've been going to the gym? Is that a recent thing?

Going to the gym and doing more activity especially with weights will increase your muscle mass, muscle is generally more tightly packed than fat, but just as heavy, so check your measurements, when you start at the gym your losses will probably not increase for a few weeks as your body adjusts and starts the process of creating muscle, but you will notice a change in your measurements as tighter muscle replaces the loose fat.

At some point we all hit a plateau in our weight loss, but staying determined and not giving up when we get to that plateau is the true test, so don't give up, keep at it and change your diet a little bit more, try something new and you will definitely see losses. And don't forget to come back and let us know how it worked for you.
