How do I subsscribe to threads?

I notice I am subscribed to a few threads. How do I do this - I thought it was automatic but I have answered or posted on other threads which are not subscribed?

I notice I can unsubscribe but did I click on or tick something to subscribe in the first place?

But it seems that the default is that if you post or reply to a thread you are automatically subscribed to it

If you go to your User CP and look under "edit options" you can change it so that you are not subscribed

I thought that, but still doesn't explain why I am subscribed to some but not all I've replied to lol.

Only the ones with new posts will show on your User CP - you can see them all if you click on 'list subscriptions' from there though.
If you've already tried that... no idea, sorry

That might explain it - never noticed that. Not that it matters either way lol.
