Hi everyone!

Im 25 and last year i was (finally) diagnosed with PCOS. After years of HEAVY periods long- sometimes non existent cycles, excess hair, acanthosis nigricans etc.

Thankfully when i had an internal (sorry i dont know how else to explain it!) The doctor said it did look like PCOS but nothing too out of the ordinary up in there!!! ;) I am being tested for Cushings Disease and other hormonal things but im not good at keeping my appointments :/ Although in myself i do not think its anything but PCOS.

I am also about 7 stone overweight- im about a size 18-20. I yo-yo with SW but the most ive lost is 1 1/2 stone but put it all back on on holiday! I know SW works even for PCOS/Insulin Resistance etc (sometimes slowly though) but I work 2 jobs (I am a Receptionist by morning and Dance Teacher by evening) and am extremely busy running a dance studio, a 12 year old step son (who lives with us full time and i have brought him up since he was 3, a house and 2 mad dogs :L
So I know i need to just be extra organised and just DO IT!!

I am TTC i have not been on any form of contraception since 2007 :( I was on the depo injection before that so i allow a year after that as i know that i can mess you up. But i have been in a relationship since 2005 and maybe with my PCOS it started out hot and heavy but my libido just faded :cry:so to be honest i havent really done much to conceive BUT i probably should have got caught by now!

So thats basically it in a BIG nutshell!! Anyone have it similar to me? There has to be someone in such a catch 22 situation!!!!

Well im not in the same situation... but like you i have been diagnosed with PCOS and have not had any form of contraception for a year and am waiting for my periods to return... as me and my partner will be trying to conceive when he comes home (in 3 weeks from work) therefore i am following Atkins diet and taking vitamins to lose the weight i have lost nearly a stone in nearly a month therefore the TTC is my motivation for losing weight...
Up until a year and a half ago i was around 15stone and now am 12.10 hoping to lose the last 10lbs before he comes ihome but that is wishful thinking but thats my mini target to get to 12st then concentrate on losing some more. I saw a photo of myself a few weeks ago and was shocked... i have a photo of me now in the same dress... a year and a half ago 2.5 stone gone and i feel so much better so im hoping all this motivation will pay off because as they say with PCOS if you lose 10% of your body weight its something like 40% increase chances of fertility if that helps at all.

I only discovered I have PCOS in 2011 when I started ttc with my current partner. I tried for a couple of years a while ago with my ex husband but, like yours, my periods are pretty much non existent and the ones I do have are horrendous. I've had two since August 2011 when we started ttc. I was also on depo and came off that in a May 2011. In December last year I went to the docs to get referred to a fertility specialist. I knew they'd mention my weight so I lost approx 4 stone. I was still overweight but in my area they won't do anything until your BMI is 30 or less. I saw the consultant in Feb this year and had a lap & dye in March which also diagnosed endometriosis. I was referred for a second op to cut away the endo and had just got my appointment date through for June this year when I got my bfp in May. I'm now 29 weeks pregnant. I didn't have any periods prior to falling pregnant (my last one was sept 2012) so we can only assume the op helped. My advice would be to lose as much weight as you can (easier said than done with PCOS I know) as they will focus on that if you go for help. The majority of places will only treat you if you BMI is under 30. Some places say under 25 and others say under 35. I think there's a sticky on the ttc thread that tells you what's what in your area. Good luck x
