Irish weight loss programme on twice a week for 8 weeks at 8.30pm

https://www.rte.ie/tv/programmes/931739-operation-transformation/

It follows five "leaders" and what is good about this programme is that all the local supermarkets get involved. The programme runs "live" over a number of weeks. Viewers sign up to follow a leader and they have diets, exercise programmes, lifestyle advise and counselling. Diet sheets and shopping lists are designed and each supermarket will have free copies of these and usually have special offers on the shopping lists...last year the shops actually ran out of kale and courgettes.

The local gyms and pools also run special programmes in conjunction with it and the GAA and schools get involved too

You can watch it on the RTE player (if you don't have the station and can access the player) and get all the recipes and tips on the main website https://ot.rte.ie/

A friend of mine was a leader about 3 years ago and now he is a fitness trainer
It becomes very localised and half of the country end up "on the telly"

Bloody typical...I can't watch it, our channel signals come and go. Will have to watch it on the player tomorrow.

First three leaders shown last night. Just very ordinary people, nice to see. But I am annoyed default weight is in stones rather than kilos and would be happier if they gave us the BMI as we have no idea of actual percentage overweight or how much lost.

I don't do Kilos. I still use stones. Going to watch it at 1pm while eating lunch. :)

And I completely appreciate that but it id an Irish made TV programme made for an Irish audience. We went metric in 1970 and it is illegal to sell goods in imperial measurements (except beer and meat but even butchers use kilos, pounds are only used for sausages).
Sorry not giving out to you but to the producers.

I thought we were metric as well. My local butcher uses both. Confuses me. :)

1kg pork loin
1lb pork sausage
1lb back bacon
2 x 8oz rump steak
1lb mince lamb.

I'm going to follow Mary https://ot.rte.ie/leaders/mary-diamond/day-1/?view=full

We are similar age and similar size and BMI, though I think I look younger...well to be fair to her she looks not older but more "old fashioned" than me. She has 3lbs or 1.4kg to lose this week which I can do this week but not every week. Its an 8 week programme. Also they have national walks each week and one is in our town this Saturday

That's just like me trying to watch ITV play and BBC iPlayer...doesn't work.

Went on the 5km walk on Saturday with Oscar in his buggy, I reckon about 500 people turned up, lots with buggies. It made me realise how few people I know, I didn't have a "buddy" with me. Also lots of Mammy's and a few Granny's with babies, i wasn't one of "the Granny's" but didn't quite fit with the Mammy's either...I don't volunteer that I am the granny. Nice to see lots of families out.
