Hi all
I need help! I'm getting so low and down in the dumps :-( I did really well on my first 3weeks but now seriously struggling to get back on track! I work all over the uk and stay in hotels a lot so my routine is all over the place! I've reverted back to my old eating habbits! I'm desperate to lose this couple of stone I'm so mad at myself I've tried to forgive and move but I can't so now I'm eating my feelings :-( I've been unable to get to a class due to work I really don't know what to do arghhhh

Does anyone else have any tips on how to cope when your away from home??

Thanks for listening to me rant xxx

Hi

Firstly don't beat yourself up about it - it is hard when you are away/entertaining for work! And beating yourself up is only making it worse! Admit that is it hard but try and make the best of a difficult situation. It may mean that you have slower losses but planning and staying on plan when you can is all you can do. Carry your free snacks and hexb's and a's when you can, try and choose healthly when eating out- as close to plan as possible, and ask for dressings/sauces on the side, without chips but extra salad etc.

If there are days that you can be 100% on plan minimise your syns to balance out those days when you can't be.

Little steps and chin up! This forum is always here to support too! :bighug:

Could you not find a group close to where your staying - I personally cannot do it without staying to group and I've been to several different groups in order to get myself sorted (mainly due to shift work!)

Or get yourself a diet buddy maybe?! Xx

Its only been these past two weeks but on the evenings the classes have been I've been unable to attend as they haven't been on that night extra! Going to group really keeps me on track, I'm in Glasgow next week and have found a group to go to thankfully!
I think I just need to plan better and like you say carry free foods and hexb and a's around! It's night time when I'm feeling sorry for myself I then find myself eating sweets and bad stuff so I've had firm words with myself since my last post I'm
In this for the long haul so I'm going to do as you say move on and get back on track!
Thanks guys appreciate any Input I'm going to need a buddy me thinks :)

Yeh just hang on in there. My husband is doing S W as well and he finds it difficult when he is away on business but I tell him just to make the best choices he can. When he is at home I do all his meals and planning for him, he really doesnt understand the plan at all, bless! Mind he doesnt need to with me living, eating, breathing it! You will get there, just keep on with good motivation and think how fab you will feel with all the lovely superfree food you have eaten. Just bob on here when you want support and help. We all understand how difficult it can be at times :)

Hi slinkyson

Do the hotels you stop in have gyms/spas? Maybe rather than being in your room with too much time to think you could go for a swim or a massage.
Do you eat in the hotels or go out? If you know where going to be in advance you could investigate the menus of places you'll be going to next and pick things off the menu that are SW friendly so when you get there your not tempted by other things on the menu.

Keep yourself busy in your danger times. Come on here there's always someone to chat too. Good luck. Xx

I downloaded an exercise DVD to my iPad to do when I travel. I can stick to the diet relatively easily but exercise is a must. A supply of mugshots for late night snacks are ideal too.

Sorry fvor the delay in replying, been in llandudno at the beginning of the week and just drove upto Glasgow. shattered!!! anyhoo, im still in the same boat. Breakfast and lunch is sorted, i have two slices of wholemeal toast with mushrooms and beans no butter or any fat added, or fruit and weetabix. Lunch is a mugshot a syn free one with muller light and fruit! Its evenings im struggling. I Rarely stay in teh same place twice and cant pre-book food most of the places we stay on are B&Bs with no gym facilties or spa.s and im not brave enough to venture out into strange places on my own at night.lol! so exercise in my room i could do, i never thought of downlading something onto my laptop but that could help!

Ive got loads of mugshots with me so im going to scoff them and try to find an asda or something rather than eating out! fortunately i have a fridge in this b&b so can stock up on free foods! just need the willpower to kick in and im laughing!

really struggling to regularly attend a class so debating whether to join sw online or not! its £49.95 for 3 months which seems quite expensive considering your not getting group support!

Hi Slinkyson. Congrats on your weight loss so far! I replied on your other post about the online membership. Just wanted to say I'm in the exact same position with having to stay away a lot in b&bs, etc... and I agree that it's really hard! I've started bringing a food bag with me with things like mugshots and lots of fruit, like you seem to be doing yourself. I also sometimes bring an options so that if I'm sitting in the room feeling bored and have cravings, that might take off the edge! Diet drinks also help me as I feel like I'm having a treat. Also, if I don't buy high-syn foods during the day or bring them with me, I generally wont go out in strange places in the eve to shop for things. Some b&bs have microwaves too so I'm going to start bringing cooked meals with me and asking if they would mind me heating them up (e.g., SW lasagne). I also sometimes spread my syns over the week instead of using them daily on weeks I'm away a lot to give myself a little more flexibility. If I am away on my weigh in day, I usually bring my scales so that I can still weigh in and keep myself on track. A lot of rambling there as I'm just trying to think of what I do when I'm away....hopefully there might be something helpful buried in there.

If there is a McDonalds near you when you are away, their salads can be a good low-syn option for dinner. I'm usually never lucky enough to have one nearby though.

Thank you sparkles :) that's loads of info to help me! Ive got loads of ideas from that! I'm going to start bringing my scales too! I had a subway salad for tea this eve and it's sufficed with no dressing of course :) its the boredom I think that's preventing me from being good! I'm going to download an exercise DVD on my laptop for the nights in feeling energetic :)

It's not to everyone's taste but on occasions when I've had to go away and worried I won't be able to get food, I have taken food that I've batch cooked at home and eaten it cold. I don't mind cold salt and pepper chicken, or have been having the slimming eats creamy tomato chicken cold too. As the weather gets colder it will be safer too as having things in the boot of the car shouldn't get warm as they do in the summer. If you don't mind tuna, you can also take a tin (and tin opener), bag of leaves and some dressing along with some cold hard boiled eggs and make a salad. Not sure how it would work if you are away for a few days in a row as you wouldn't want to get food poisoning. It is difficult when out and about but if you are in a restaurant, most will do you an omelette and salad. Really sympathise cos it's tough when you really want to do something but it's difficult.

Have you ever thought about getting a food flask? I take one with me to work, put a packet of pasta and sauce in it and some boiling water (or even just hot from the vending machine!), give it a stir and depending on how hot the water is, it's ready in an hour or so. Works with rice too.

I'm going to be following this thread closely for any other good ideas! As much as I try to plan, there are often days when I'm away where I have to choose to either go over my syns or else go hungry. I have been known to go to bed early and sleep to avoid the hunger! Not ideal.. MrsScandude, are you saying that you just put regular uncooked rice in the flask and that it cooks in there if you add hot water? That sounds brill, I'm definitely going to give that a try! :)

I definitely struggle to avoid eating out of boredom when I'm away too Slinkyson. I usually make sure I have a book / magazine / DVDs to watch on my laptop. Do you have an iPad / iPhone / iTouch? If you did, there's a brilliant app called tubebox where you can download videos from youtube onto the app so they can be watched even if you don't have internet access where you're staying.

Yeah I have an iPhone I'll check that app out and the flask thing and the cold salad are great ideas! Usually I'm only a away for upto two nights! I'm getting fed up of mugshots need something else do the packet pasta's I will give a whirl! I bought some salad today and ate that for tea but I didn't have any naughty things but since eating it I'm feeling very fed up and deprived so i didn't eat enough I don't think seen as my stomachs rumbling I'm calling it an early night as I'm certainly not leaving the room it's too warm and snug!

Night all :)
