Hi guys, joined slimming world online last night and today is my first day.
A few questions, i've been using my fitness pal for the last 3 months and have lost 20 pound with counting calories. I was basically eating as normal but actually realising how much i was eating and cutting it down to 1300 calories a day.
On slimming world, it says (on easy) you can have brown bread as a b. First thing, brown bread is in the b option but also in syns, what do i count it under?
But also i had Allinsons brown bread today, and as i'm used to checked the calories and there is 110 cal per slice! On my old dieting ways i was having white bread but having the full of fibre 80 calorie white bread, i'd much prefer to be having that as it's lower in calories and i hate brown bread! Can i swap?
Also is anyone still counting calories on SW? I'm worried about going from 1300 a day to eating what i want and actually putting weight on in SW.
Worried i've paid for 3 months and i was better how i already was :(

thanks everyone, no idea what i'm doing really so any help would be very appreciated!!

The short answer is no you can't swap. It's not just down to kcal content. The HEXs are dictated by other things, not least the fibre content. The reason that the bread is listed in both is because you can count 60g slice as a hex b but if you want more you would have to syn it. You can continue to have your white bread BUT it would need to be synned and would be in addition to your HEX b option (which doesn't have to be bread, it can be crackers, cereal, cooked fruits, olive oil etc). At 80kcal it would be in the region of 4-5 syns a slice. If that's where you want to use your syns then that's totally up to you.

You will get the hang of it. I wouldn't count kcal at the same time as it defeats the object but I know there are quite a few people who still weigh out carbs like pasta to keep sensible

Healthy extra B choices are primarily about fibre and most white breads don't have enough to count. You can however have 1 slice of the Allinson HIgh Fibre White or 60g of the Kingsmill Great White breads xx
