Starting over

Hi - I am new to this site but unfortunately not new to the Cambridge Diet ... I was doing so well and within 7lbs of my target having lost 4st. Then it went wrong .... Over the last year I have put back on 3st.

I would like to restart with the Cambridge plan and found this site googling when I was seeking some inspiration!

My goal is to end this year having got back to my low point, so that i can fit into the lovely clothes i bought last year.

I was wondering whether anyone else is about to start/restart and would like to buddy up??

Also any tips on how to restart and keep to the plan would be great ....

Hi Fiona - I am also a re-starter like you and would love to buddy up. The first time I did Cambridge (18 months ago), I lost 10lbs in my first week & 4lb in my second. Since then I have have returned to Cambridge on many occasions doing SS & SS+ but have never stuck for more than a week.

I am currently on day 2 of SS and so far it has not been too bad. One thing I have learned is 100% sole sole works...nothing but 3 shakes/soups & 4 ltrs of water will pass these lips everyday. Even doing SS+ is too much of a temptation for me. I would like to lose at least 3st 10lb by the end of 12 weeks and my overall target is 4st 10lb. I've got my 30th in 7 weeks and want to be at my pre-baby weight then (11st 11lb).

Hi CadburysRU! (love the name by the way, though for me it would probably be "whitewine" or "bagofcrisps" of "hey, lets just go for both")

I am so pleased you would like to buddy up - sounds like we started the diet (originally ...) at the same time and have about the same amount we would like to lose. I have not restarted yet as we have some friends and family stuff this weekend but I am gearing myself up for Tuesday. Like you, I found last time that SS works the best and if I drink lots of water then I feel just fine, just a bit bored because I love to cook.

But, there are 7 weeks until your 30th and we can cope with SS for 7 weeks ... it will be worth it.

Hi Fi,

Hope your enjoying your bank holiday. I'm on day 4 today - I've stuck to it 100% and have drank at least 4 ltrs of water everyday. I get weighed on Friday and I really want to lose 10lbs in my first week. Only 4 days to go :)

Hi Fiona and cadburysru, I'm in the same position as you new to the forum but not to cambridge! Started 3 years ago and lost 2st7lb but once I hit christmas and endless temptation everywhere I started a downward spirall putting it all back! Started again in May and did really well until my holiday in July where I had a break from the diet where I gained 4lbs. Havetried to get back on since but have cheated nearly every day BUT restarted seriously now and today is my first day doing 100% SS, going ok at the moment drinking lots of water weigh in on Thursday so only 4 days until then so I know loss wont be as good if it was 7 days but gives me a bit more of an incentive to stick to it this week. Would love to buddy up with you 2 ! xx

Hey Blodyntatws,

You've done really well so far. I know how hard it is when you keep falling off the Cambridge...it's so difficult to come back to it when your still thinking about food. That's why I gave myself a clean break from March until now. I thought about starting it again so many times over the summer but by morning time my motivation was gone. I've made it to day 4 now and am defo in ketosis so I don't want to start again. All it is is 4 x 3 weeks then we can start eating & working our way up the plans. I usually get to week 2 & give up but this time I'm going to get to week 3 and then focus on the following 3 weeks. I make sure I drink 500ml of water every 2 hours so that I consume 4 ltrs a day. It's really working :)

Hi thanks for the moral support I will be really pleased when I'm back in Ketosis as I know how much better I will feel, lucky you on day 4! you are doing really well keep going we know that it will be worth it. I'm off work for another week usually love being at home but as I have no routine I can't wait to get back! You seem to have around similar weight as me to lose, I feel so much better after losing some weight can't wait to get to my goal so I can wear some nice clothes! xx

Hello both!

congrats on getting this far - it is Tuesday and this is my day 1 .... I have been trying to occupy myself this evening updating my signature and getting a ticker thing .... So thinking of success rather than "oh no, this is only day 1 ....".

I went back to work this morning after the bank holiday and hated opening my wardrobe and seeing lots of lovely clothes, all of which are too small .... This dieting, getting rid of larger clothes, buying smaller clothes, putting lots of weight back on again is not only soul destroying, it is expensive!! But I have followed both of you with the SS only and drinking lots of water, really find that helps so I am looking forward to getting to day 4 like Ru.

I am going to weigh in again on Sat, so whilst I am not expecting a great first weight in loss, providing it is down I will be happy! Hope Tuesday went well for you both

Hey all I'm going back to work next monday and although I love being home I think that having a good routine will help me succeed , you are doing really well carry on both of you! Hey how do you get a ticker thingy? x

First weigh in this morning and minus 2lbs ... I am pleased as I found last time that starting was the worst bit. Hoping for a good week 2 so I can get some momentum! Hope you are both well (I am writing this whilst my husband is watching yet another golf tournament ... Sky TV has a lot to answer for!) and enjoying the weekend. Blodyn Ttws thinking of you returning to work on Monday! Ru - what plans do you have for your birthday??

Tell me about it early morning and late nights once again!!! O how nice winning the lottery would be and being a satay at home mum, then I would have enough money for lipo so wouldn't have to diet ha ha LOL, I'm only joking xx I probably would hire a fit personal trainer though xx

Hi all, am restarting after losing 4stone and getting withing 6lbs of my goal weight...kinda didnt stick to it and now 3 stone heavier!!! am gunna do it this hopefully with the help and support of you all.. xx

Hi Canvas - welcome!! It sounds funny but simply hearing of other people who are in the same position same makes it feel OK and achievable to lose again. I ave spent the last year being so disappointed in myself every time I reach for the cake or glass of wine. But I am thinking that at least we know how to succeed on losing weight on this diet and we can also remember how great it felt. I have to keep reminding myself of that.
