Weekly weigh-in thread

really? wow. its the best diet full stop :D

I never thought to check with my diabetic medicines.. how bad am I!

good for you hon. It does take time. when did you come over to Atkins babe?

Started eating a week last thursday so think I'm still adjusting to meals as before I was on just 3 shakes a day x

oh yeah surely your body must take some adjusting. do you enjoy eating proper food now ? it must be hard on shakes diet. i couldnt do it.

Have you thought about taking water tablets Cathy to help shift it? x

Can't take em hun, I've got underactive thyroid so can't take anything for water or anything like adios etc.

I'm on a right cocktail at the mo lol, I take thyroxine for thyroid, diclofenac for "pretend" arthritis (all the symptoms but not actually got it!) and now my multivitamin to add to it! :D

Thanks everyone for your really nice comments you're all so supportive on here xxx

Fingers crossed for next week! :scale:

It wasn't as bad as you might think as when ketosis kicks in you don't feel hungry. The idea is to break the "addiction" to food. Which is a load of rubbish when you think about it really cos you've got to eat sometime!

exactly. thats what i cant understand. ill always think, oh when ive lost weight i can have etc etc. but with this im having pretty much everything I want anyway and when i do get to maint, ill do as jim does and if im gonna go out for big naughty meal i can induction for week beforehand.

Well I don't feel deprived of anything, I already kicked my carb habit through LT and if I want bread I use MIMs but its rare I do.

Best thing of all is I have my social life back!!

Thanks for all your encouragement and Cathy well done for persevering through your problems.

Jim interesting to know you were a 1 kg a week person too - I suppose steady is best - and you did shift a lot of weight that way too!

I did indeed Trish, slow but steady, it's not a race. :)

but us women get impatient!

Tell me about it. ;)

Cathy hun make sure you eat with the diclofenac or that can mess up the diet due to the acids in your stomach confusing your body.

Thanks Cheryl, I didn't know it could mess up the diet but I do know you're supposed to take them with a meal or it can cause ulcers.

I'm prescribed 150mg a day (3x50mg tablets) but to be honest I only take the one in the morning as A - I've found I can cope with the lower dose and B - I always forget to take the other 2! But the Atkins book says try and get your arthritis and some other meds down to a minimum anyways.

Cheers for advice hun x

Its all to do with confusing your body. The ulcers are also caused by the acid produced in the stomach.

Cathy,

My bf has s type of severe aggressive arthritis and has been told to avoid starch (which is why he pretty much follows an Atkins lifestyle). He keeps his symptoms under control with this diet but also omega 3 oil (a massive dose) and an infrared sauna. Let me know if you want any more info and I will PM you, save waffling on here :)

My old crew mates sister was riddled with it. She was given steroid injections all the time with no relief. She too was told to stay away from starches and went on a low carb type diet, although i remember her having lots of soups (probably homemade). She lost tons of weight. That was almost 4yrs ago and shes really well now, has the odd flare up now and then but its really mild

Thanks for advice hun, its not actually proper arthritis I've got but will probably become that one day. Long story short I'm double jointed in my fingers, hands, wrists and I think my hips as they can erm come out (sorry for tmi!) so I have all the symptoms but don't actually have it. Specialist said its probably because my joints are working overtime and are getting strained so no more party pieces for me lol. But I take the diclofenac because without it I wake up with claw hands and swollen finger joints and have to prise them open. I tell you hun I'm falling apart and I'm only 23 lol!

Will definately look into the omega 3 boost though thankyou xx

Another 3lbs lost :D how is everyone else doing? xx
