What have I got myself into?!!!!

    I'm running a 10k run in October for Cancer Research, so i thought i'd send out the sponsoship request at work nice an early. I decided to bribe people with my cakes, so if they sponsor more than £25 each they get a whole cake, or £3+ for a slice - It looks like i'm going to spend the rest of the summer baking cakes I can't eat.

    Worse than that though is I now have a bet with a bloke at work to finish the run in under 70 minutes. I'm unfit now and i've only ever run/walked 5km runs in 45 minutes before - I'm never going to get anywhere near that time!!!!:whacky068:

    there's plenty of time between now and then hon. you'll be amazed at how much easier it gets. get training. don't let him beat you :D hee.

    you sooo will do it! I find 10k easier than 5k... once you get your rhythm you'll be fine! Just take it slowly and try interval running in your training.... so run really fast for a minute and then walk for a minute... then after a few weeks up to run for 1.30 and walk for a minute, then 1.30 run and walk 30secs..... (do it like 8 times at first then gradually increase it)..... it'll help increase your pace without killing you and then you should be able to gradually increase the pace for the whole time! xx

    Thanks - that's what i've been doing, but progress is slow. As it's just under 12 weeks to go i'm following a 12 week plan, so fingers crossed i'll get there!

    I have found an excellent website though, you plot your route and it tells you how far you've run. www.walkjogrun.net
