Whats your new SW food discovery??

Just discovered the Spicy Carrot cake made with scan bran. Using 5 scan bran, so 1 syn for a fifth of the cake. With quark and sweetener on the top! I use my piece as a healthy extra when i'm on a green day!

Let me know if anyone wants the recipe (think i got it off here though!)

Soft boiled egg with asparagus soldiers. Boil asparagus for 2 minutes. wrap in free ham and fry in fry light. My version of the Daily Mail weekend Mothers day breakfast!

I'd like the recipe Penguin
Does it taste really scan branny though?(if you know what I mean?)

I don't think it tastes like scan bran!

ingredients:
5 Scan Bran
150g grated carrot
5 tsp sweetener
5 tsp mixed spice (with ginger and cinnemon in)
3 beaten eggs.

Method:
Pour hot water over scan bran and let it go soggy. Drain off excess water.
Add the grated carrot, sweetener, mixed spice and eggs and mix it all together.

Put in the microwave for 12 minutes (i do it for 12 and have a 700w microwave) (do not cover the bowl)

I suggest using a sillicone loaf tin. I used a plastic mixing bowl and kept getting a hard top. But my mum used her sillicone dish and comes out a lot nicer!

For the topping, mix some quark (or philly if you have the space syns/healthy extra), and add some sweetener to make some frosting!

Fifth of the cake is 1 syn (if you use 5 scan bran..but you can use 4 and then if would be 1 syn for a quarter).
Or no syns if you use the scan bran as a HE!

Enjoy! Going to go and have a piece of mine now!

Just eaten a warburtons individual packed choc chip brioche roll, bought them for my Son, 122 calories each, so I synned it at 6 syns. Really lovely and soft :)

Yeah It's 5 teaspoons. I used mixed spice as it's cheaper than buying all the different spices. I think the original recipe was different teaspoons of different spices (Cinnamon, ginger etc)

Hi all, update on the 'Syn Free Lemon Curd Cheesecake - better than you know what!! I doubled upon the recipe and it is a bit time consuming but well worth it.
Need to work out syn value of base though, (probably 5syns per slice), it made a nice size 9" cake .The next one I make I'm going to try either alpen light or HiFi base, so watch this space!

Not strictly a food discovery as such but just trying the new Equator alcohol free beer, 0 calories, 0 syns :)

Hopefully it'll be great for barbecue season so I'll still feel part of things without getting though 50 or 60 syns of beer!

Truvia - a natural sweetner that actually looks like sugar and doesnt have an aftertaste and foam up when you put it in something! Its expensive (on offer for £3.99 at tesco at minute) but chemical free and you actually use a lot less than the equivalent sugar/sweetner

I was looking for this in Tesco's the other day and couldn't find it, is it in the beer section or with soft drink? Also what did you think about it? X

It was in between the beer and soft drinks with the other alcohol free and low alcohol beers,

I'm really liking it to be honest and I never thought I would say that about an alcohol free beer, it's light and fresh and a lovely bottle! Sounds like a stupid thing but really makes you feel like you're having a beer, drank 4 at a barbie today and I have NEVER had an alcohol free barbecue before :)
