    This is new

    I'm taking part in 'Below the Line' this year. It's starting on Monday and raises awareness and funds for those living in extreme poverty.

    What this means for me is that I'm eating and drinking on 1 a day from Monday to Friday to raise funds for disabled children who have to live in these conditions all year round.

    I've no idea what this will do to my weight loss, but I thought you guys (more than anyone) would be interested in what I get to eat for 1 per day. Hence the thread I'll update each day from Monday.

    I don't think I can ask for sponsorship here, but there is a meaning behind all this - not just losing more weight. In fact, it might be a complete stall this week because it's cheap not healthy.

    Monday morning here we come :/

    weeks 5 and 6 - 4lbs lost - no class week 5 as it was Holiday Week
    week 7 ... 2lbs lost. I am so proud to have been Slimmer of the Week for the last 7 weeks.

    Total .... 1 stone 2 lbs lost in 7 weeks

    August - 18 weeks and 2st 4lbs gone - now at target - 9st 2lbs - Maintaining at that weight.

    I've just updated my diary on here. I've managed day 1.

    Lidl did us proud with a salad for 28p. Admittedly it only had 3 cherry tomatoes in it and the lettuce was a bit limp, but still there was a bit of mackerel too...

    No dressing was the hardest bit to manage, but it did the job. Pud was a jelly, with enough cubes left over for another few days.

    I'm settling down now to fresh veg soup and (as I have a few pence left) a ryvita and a half.

    That's really kind of you - thank you! I just hope I can manage it for the rest of the week. I think it'll get harder as I go on. My diary's just the one in my sig line. I'll PM you with the other - hope that's ok with the forum mods. Please let me know if it's not.

    I'll do a weigh in every morning, just to see what it does to the weight as well. I've not counted calories today - just the money!

    It's not a lot of food. I usually have a salad for lunch, but far bigger and more interesting than that one was! I think I've done fairly well on the healthy - other than the jelly and the ryvita, nothing was processed. I'm just wondering when the hunger pangs are going to kick in...

    Hungry and a bit headachy this afternoon. I've got my parsnips in roasting along with the boiled split peas that will turn into pease pudding with a touch of butter.

    I do wonder about living on a 1 a day in UK - in India it is not a problem (away from tourist areas) as I know, as a veggie we did it all the time and that is because that is all it costs. A thali - which is a big tray with about 5 small portions of different curries - local rice - roti and a papad costs about 50p and that is a very filling meal. Fruit and yogurt for breakfast or a Masala Dosa (big rice pancake filled with veg) and some dhal and veg or rice for lunch and that is your 1 spent.

    2 days ago you were headachy - not enough food ?

    I do applaud you for doing it but please do not make yourself ill.
