Extra Easy Just starting out: tips for success your essential obvious and not so obvious ones :)

My favourite batch cook recipes are spag bol, chili, tomato sauce (base for all kinds of things and a stand by for pasta when you can't be bothered to cook anything else) and curry. I'm vegetarian so usually use Quorn, soy mince or beans for the protein. I don't really use recipes for these -...

Extra Easy Just starting out: tips for success your essential obvious and not so obvious ones :)

Planning and batch cooking have kept me on track, but the main tip I would give is write EVERYTHING down! It is so easy to (literally) forget snacks etc. Also you can look back on good weeks for inspiration. I also found it much easier to cope with a gain if I could see WHY I had put on. And...

Extra Easy HELP - First weigh in, vegetables and milk

You have had some excellent advice here. If you like pasta, could you do a home-made pasta sauce? You wouldn't need to do much chopping, just enough to fit it all into a food processor. You could make a huge batch, freeze it, then use it as a basis for curry, chilli, stew etc as well. I make...

    I'm new

I almost always have fruit and yoghurt or fat-free fromage frais for breakfast. If I'm at work, lunch is usually couscous with some kind of bean and whatever salad/veg I've got in the fridge. I make a big bowl of couscous and it will keep in the fridge for a few days.

SW the Vegan or Vegetarian way....

Thanks for starting this thread! I have been vegetarian for 30 years now, and I follow the green plan (obviously!) I do still eat dairy so I usually use one Hex A for skimmed milk, and the other for cheese (though I don't have the second Hex A every day). I'd say about 85% of my main meals...

    Slimming world and hot weather

Yes, I've had really good losses the last few weeks, and I'm sure it's got a lot to do with the fact that I've been having huge plates of salad. I really don't feel like hot food much or lots of carbs: when it's colder I'm much more likely to want a huge bowl of pasta!

Talking of marmite, I like to mix a teaspoon or so into quark and use it on crispbreads with cucumber/tomato on top. Yes, it's not the official line, but I save my syns and use them for wine at the weekend. It has not affected my losses so far - when and if it starts to then I will think again. To be honest, my view is that having that bottle of wine to look forward to is what helps me stay on plan.
