Extra Easy Just starting out: tips for success your essential obvious and not so obvious ones :)

Hello all so I started my slimming world journey yesterday I am going it alone at home due to money restrictions. I know quite abit about slimming world basics as my mum and friends have done it alot in the past and ive started for all of two or three weeks before..I gave up:sigh:.

But I have decided I am getting serious now and would love to know the main things which have kept you all on the straight and narrow :).
Recipes, syn free buys, cooking tips, craving killers anything really.

Will all be much appreciated.
Peace and Love xxxxxxxxxx

Hi Banana I only started yesterday too. I'm doing it alone at home too. I find the first few weeks into a new eating plan are difficult so I've planned pretty much every meal for the next 2 weeks to make sure I keep on track. This includes having some syn free snacks for those moments where I want to raid the cupboards!

Planning and batch cooking have kept me on track, but the main tip I would give is write EVERYTHING down! It is so easy to (literally) forget snacks etc. Also you can look back on good weeks for inspiration. I also found it much easier to cope with a gain if I could see WHY I had put on. And if my written record showed that I had stuck to plan, I knew that the weight would come off the next week.

Thanks Daisy I am literally doing this as we speak i think it might actually save me a fortune too as i will only buy in what I need! Going to get some jelly for half a syn and have it mixed with yogurts :). JoGirl, have you any particular recipes you like to batch cook? Im definitely going to write everything down i like the idea of looking back on a bad week and being able to see where i went wrong in the past i have thought i have stuck too it and ive still put on, sod it i quit. thanks guys.

My favourite batch cook recipes are spag bol, chili, tomato sauce (base for all kinds of things and a stand by for pasta when you can't be bothered to cook anything else) and curry. I'm vegetarian so usually use Quorn, soy mince or beans for the protein. I don't really use recipes for these - just kind of make them up as I go along (!) but there are great recipes on here. Have a look in the recipe forum. I use these threads a lot:
