Hi everyone Im Maggie, I used to go to classes, but couldnt stick at going, Ive been trying to lose weight for years literally. Ive got all the sw books, and am going to try with the help of this forum to do it at home. Im 20 stone, and initialy want to get down to 18 for starters. I have a lovely choccie labrador dog, who helps me with walking. What finaly did it was this weekend, I was teaching him to swim in the sea, it was lovely, but I felt gigantic in my cossie, and so awkward ! I really need some encouragement, I know I have to think positively, and know that it is possible to lose weight, despite all my past failures. My mother suffers with very chronic arthritis and is in a lot of pain, I know I risk having the same problem in my old age, if i dont get the weight off. Thanks everyone, look forward to hearing from you all, Maggie xx

Hi Maggie,

Good Luck, best thing i have found is making sure i go to the group and stay for the meeting afterwards. It keeps me motivated for the week ahead.

I am sure you will do really well :)

There are lots of people on here doing it without going to meetings. I still go to meetings just so I have a clear idea what I weigh, but I find the support here more useful tbh!

You're off to a good start with the exercise and the belief that you can do it, as well as setting a manageable first goal. So you will!

Focus on enjoying the free and superfree foods, your tastes will adapt too. And savour your syns as special treats. If you learn to enjoy the plan rather than see it as a deprivation you will be much more able to stick to it. Good luck!

Hello Maggie! Welcome to the forum! you did the right thing to come here. Here you can find lots of help and support, so many nice people around and they are always ready to give advice! You just need to start the diet, be strong, keep the plan and the first result will give you more motivation than all the people in the world;-) You already have done the first step - you came here. Now continue to move in the right direction and we all will try to help you as hard as we can! Good luck dear

Hi Maggie, I find this forum really helpful:) although I do go to group, I pick up loads of useful tips and recipes off here! So good luck with your first week, not that you'll need it - I'm sure you'll do just fine :D

I have tried doing it from home but need the discipline of being weighed every week at group. Everyone is different and loads of people have lost doing it from home.
I have found this forum a lifesaver. everyone is so so friendly and helpful with loads of advice and gorgeous recipes to try out.

I am also re-joining today as need to lose the weight.

Good luck on your weight loss journey.
