I was really looking forward to a lovely meal last night- 3 course meal the works! Been good all week in preparation for this! So OH takes me out to a greek resturant. Greek because its sentimental to us as i love the country and one day we plan to live there for a while. So we turn up to the resturant 9pm as booked. We were aware we had to take our own wine etc as they don't have a license to sell alcohol- not a problem as we dont drink when eating anyway. However, it was as if we had done something wrong all night- waiters just wudnt accept the fact we were OK with diet coke and lemo and were convinced we 'didn't know to take our own drink'- just not the case!
Anyway, before we walked in we looked at the menu- which looked goregous!! I had an idea in mind what i fancied and so did OH. We sat down only to be handed this laminated piece of paper which was the SET menu for valentines day at £25 PER HEAD!!!!!!! We chose our starters- lovely! Main course was absolutely revolting! I had chicken athena- just looked like sick on a plate with lumps of fat for chicken! GROSS! :sigh: I left mine didnt eat much of it. Then desert- only two choices. Carrot cake or Choc fudge cake- went for the choc fudge and it was the best part of the meal. All of the way through this i pretended to OH i was enjoying it etc as it wasnt his fault and he paid a fortune for it! But my oh my i just thought aboutSW chips with egg whilslt eating it - IT WAS THAT BAD!
Went for drinks afterwards. We had fun whch made up for the disaster. But i am so angry about the whole service we had at this rubbish resturant. They didnt even serve veg with the mains! Everything was fried! URGH!
Sorry for ranting but im so annoyed that i used my syns up on something as revolting as that last night! :break_diet:
Hope everyone else enjoyed vals night lol x

Aw I'm sorry! Poor you!

I know how you feel though, I saved up my syns a few weeks ago to go out for a quiet drink with my OH, and when I arrived in the pub one of his friends was there and joined us all evening and talked solely to him, and I sat in more-or-less silence all evening. A very disappointing waste of syns.

On the bright side though it helped highlight how nice SW recipes can be...!?

Gutted. I'd call/write a letter to the management about their appalling service and food. Even if to just get it off your chest and because they should know just how crap they were!

Lesson learnt though, ey? SW meals are better and cheaper :bliss: Such a shame though xx

Oh dear ... makes me glad I stayed in!! Restaurants charge an absolute fortune on V'day and now I'm getting used to low fat food, things like Indians (which i used to love) just taste so greasy!!

yeah i completely agree. SW recipes are just excellent! My stomach has just recovered from the greasiness served to me that night- but im back on track ( i think tho i have had some syns yesterday and today) but am doing exercise to try and keep it level! x

That's the trouble, people really cash in on Valentines day/night. It was our anniversary and we couldn't afford to go out for dinner so we went to a pub where the band who played at our wedding were playing. We had a great night and didn't spend too much! Pub grub and a great band is the best!

We've been feeling the crunch too so got dressed up as if we were going out and had the M&S Valetines meal for two (delicious) and stayed in, listened to music and then danced in the dining room... was my favourite ever!! I will not be going out on Valentines again!

Aww thats sounds so romantic and lovely hun! bless. Defo doing something like this when we get a house of our own :)

Taz the annoying thing is is that wud have suited us down the ground- coz we normally do pub grub and get hammered lol But we thought we'd push the boat out- complete dissappointment- ahh well there will be other occassions x
There will be, make up for it next year!

We always stay in too. Over-priced set meals, churned out food, being pushed for the table, 'fake' romance... Don't get me wrong, I still like the thought behind V-Day but I just don't like the over-commercialisation of it. Cor don't I sound like a miserable old git?! lol!

I do go to a lot of effort with a nice meal and wine and whatnot, for a cosy evening in together...!
