Calorie Burning Question

Hi All,
I have a question about how the burning of calories works.

For example, if you eat a lunch of 500 calories and then burn them off during your workout, then later on the day you eat a meal of 400/500 calories for dinner, with no workout afterwards, do those calories just lie dormant and turn to fat?

To succesfully lose weight do you have to excercise after every meal, or does your excercise/calorie intake all stack up together at the end of the day? What i mean by this (and i know i probably suck at explaining) if you burned 800 calories with a morning workout, then ate 1600 calories throughout the day with no excersize, do these calories then turn straight to fat?

I hope that made sense.

Any answers would be greatly appreciated :)

I will let someone who is on a computer give a better more detailed answer but basically no.

Your body naturally burns a certain amount of calories without you doing anything, even if you were in bed 24 hours. It burns calories to keep you warm, keep your heart beating and so on.
