Couch to 5k challenge

Amazing, 2 weeks of tennis motivates me too, maybe I'll have to start watching more sports. Only watch tennis, rugby and f1. Haha.
 
Tbh, tennis is the only sport I ever watch, the rest leave me absolutely cold (although I did go through a David Gower phase in my teens and went to Edgbaston with my Dad for the day to watch him play ;)). I do find it easier watching something on the tv though, it keeps my mind off continually checking how much longer I've got on the clock. I tell myself "I wont check the timeruntil after the next song/ game/ whatever" and try to stick to it, and when the "Walk now" instruction comes, it's a welcome surprise lol :D

Dewinter, WOW last week, sorry I haven't been on in ages, just been hectic for me with visitors and then my boys started nursery last week so our whole daily schedule has changed! It's gone way too hot for me to run so that's me done running until winter which by then I will have to start the plan again but I don't mind! Sofartogo have you been running? Where is everyone else? Well done to all of you who have started the plan in the last few weeks while I goofed off!!
 
Hi Ladies, I downloaded the NHS podcast the other day and had a go at W1D1!

What can i say, it was horrible :cry:

I only just managed the first 60 sec run, and then 30 seconds of the second, then had to walk the rest of it!

How embarassing, i new i was unfit but it was horrible :cry:

I am so embarassed :sigh:

Has anyone else really struggled?
 
Yeah i kinda only just did day 1 actually. I had my 9 stone when wet fella running with me bobbing about saying how easy it was and me harking for breath like i'd been chuffing on a bonfire!lol i hope it will get easier, day 3 is tonight, as i missed it yesterday due to being knackered. I hope by the end i can at least jog the whole course!

Hi Gemini, glad to see u back!
I haven't been out for a few weeks. Have a horse with very poorly leg in at the moment so, with him before and after work on top of my boys and work at home it had to go for a while. I still make zumba twice a week and I will be putting the running back in my life in the next few weeks! I am determined to go back to doing week 9 though. Thinking it mite be difficult after the break but I don't like to be beaten!!!! How are you doing? Have you been swimming much? X

I can honestly say that I thought week 1 was probably the toughest as its when your body is getting used to a different form of exercise. Although I wouldnt have classed myself as having a high level of fitness before I started by any means I would have considered it to be reasonable as I would have regularly done maybe 8 - 10k on my crosstrainer at home but jogging was a whole new ball game. Stick with it though because I have just finished week 5 where I have jogged for 20 minutes solid & I NEVER thought that would have been possible after week 1. By week 3 I found my body settling into the exercise & my recovery times after the jogs shortening so try to trust in the plan & honestly you will surprise yourself.

Hey Sofartogo & Gemini76! I wondered where my support team had gone too!! yeah into the final week for me!! last night's run wasn't too bad but it was a bit too warm for me. I think I should have waited till at least the sun had gone.

That's really interesting to hear. As day one was fine till the next day anf my legs were killing. :( the second day was meant to be yesterday but will have to be today. Tus raining here but i still neeeed to do it

Dont worry. My legs ached for the first week & half & then they have been fine since....even after the 20 minute run :)

When for a whole half an hour i am not chasing 5 kids about it's just me and my iphone and a wicked playlist :)

Hi tinkerbellerella :)

I've been stuck on week two for a while after a knee injury, but I definitely found the first two days the hardest. I've only done four runs in total :-( but it was getting into a routine.

Just to echo what sweetpink said - Week one was the hardest for me too. Bear with it. I truly believe in the plan. I have just completed Week Eight today - running for 28 minutes. It was hard, but no worse than Week One, honestly. Good luck x
 
Just did Week 4 day 3 at the gym. The exercise bit was fine, but the trapped nerve in my neck has given me a real problem today. Am back on the full strength co-codamol as well as naproxen, and now I'm worried I'll get bunged up which will jeopardise my weight on Monday. Will have to up the fibre I think to counteract it.

I knew the pain was just my muscles adjusting so I just carried on & they eased after the first 5 minutes. I know exact;ly what you mean about the me time. Its my escape from my 3 little monkies too!!! :D
