Cycling, bit worried I am too heavy!!??

Most bikes come with a gel seat, and if you get a ladies bike, its padded in the areas that we need it most! I would go for a mountain bike, as they also come with re-enforced light frames.
I agree with the exercise bikes - good idea to begin with, but as you are static, can be as boring as anything! Get a proper bike and have a cycle!!
 
Have you got FreeCycle website where you live?...basically its a website for people that instead of taking things to the tip; if they are still usable, will advertise them on Freecycle and all you have to do is collect. The one where we live quite regularly advertises bikes...it would be a start for you and it wouldnt cost you a penny. Have a look.
 
I am 21 stone and have just taken up cycling after many years. I have a secondhand Trek 3700 mountain bike with 27 " wheels it's a very big chunky bike and was £100 very good secondhand condition. I have since added a gel seat and it's a fab ride for a big girl!
