Dentist and bad breath!!!

Bit of a weird thought...Has anyone been to the dentist whilst on CD and suffering from the Ketosis bad (i mean pretty disgusting) Breath???? lol. I have the dentist on wednesday and Im wondering if I should pre-warn the dentist about my breath and the fact my mouth feels absolutely disgusting at the moment! How embaressing eh!!!! Or should I play ignorance and let him just think Im a skanky cow who stinks :8855::D:D

On a lighter note I had a 5 day weigh in today and have lost 6 pounds....Not a HUGE loss but Im still fairly pleased :)

I'm so lucky I don't get really bad ketosis breath, but I was still paranoid when I went to the dentist. I get on really well with my dentist because I'm petrified of dentists, I have a specialist kiddie dentist... so I warned him about the the death breath, he was really nice about it and said it wasn't noticable. You could always take you tooth paste with you and eat some just before you go in.

Yeah my dentist is a nice guy so I think I will tell him, just so he knows!! hehehe. Things we put ourselves through!!! eat the toothpaste????is that allowed!! ;) x

I can cope with the headaches, I can cope with the hunger pangs, I can cope with the temptation and the water intake, but the one thing I HATE about CD is the bad breath!!!!!!!!

I would tell the dentist, I am sure you won't be the first :)

Mia I am so with you on this. The bad breath only really kicked in this morning...but on the packed train home I was scared to breath out in case anyone caught a whiff!! ha ha. Mind you there are some really smelly people on that train so I shouldnt worry too much!

I was the same at the hairdressers on saturday. I am soooo aware of it, it's so uncomfortable. I had to apologise and tell her :(

Have you tried using anything for it? My CDC told me tonight I could use mouth spray so I went straight to Tesco to get one. It is really horrible!! My tongue has also gone disgusting...Im pretty sure its coz of the ketosis or the packs.....

I am paranoid about this... I brush my teeth twice daily as normal, also brush my tongue and use mouthwash - I then clean them again after each product I have.... I don't notice the breath except for first thing in the morning, but then again I have always suffered with dog breath first thing - LOL...

Sometimes as well, we are more paranoid and it is not as bad as we think it is..

I do everything possible, but unfortunately mouthwash, gum, toothpaste doesn't last too long. It's just one of those things. I chew gum regularly but nothing is long lasting.

Does chewing gum not make you hungry? My CDC advised against chewing gum so I havent done, although I could do with a bit right now!

my dentist never said anything about my tongue and breath, I am sure he noticed though. :D

I can't chew gum, it makes me feel sooo hungry it's not worth it.

No, chewing gum does not make me hungry - the opposite in fact. I chew it to make my mouth busy :). I know it is not recommended for fear of making you eat, but it doesn't affect me at all.

I might chew some just before I go in. But other than that I think it will make me starving! :D I have the dentist tomorrow so I shall let you know if he passes out from my stinky breath!!

'Dentist keels over from womans death breath' I can see it now! :8855::D

I'm worried about the same thing because i have an appointment on Friday. What i intend to do is drink some water, maybe brush my teeth and use some mouthwash but if i have to i'l just tell her why my breath smells so funky, i'm sure they'll understand. xx
