I write for a local magazine, and I am a member of a walking club.

I wonder have we many people interested in walking here. Do you find it a good way to meet people?

I have promised myself to get back into it, so far three miles is about my max...but getting better.

I have a pedometer and am aiming for 10,000 steps per day - I'm not a 'walker' so this is quite challenging for me! :rolleyes:

Do you wear that on your belt? I have one on my bike.

It could be a good idea to keep you motivated walking...

I read recently that research has shown that walking is the best cure for belly fat!

I tend to wear it on whatever's round my waist!! When wearing a dress it's firmly attached to my knickers, although the clicking sound it sometimes makes has caused me to get a few funny looks

Definitely recommend getting a pedometer...like DQ I'm not much into walking either but recently bought a pedometer and challenge myself daily to improve on whatever the previous day's total was...

If walking gets rid of belly fat then I reckon I probably need to do Land's End to John O'Groats a good few times before I see the difference!! :)

my parents (father nearly 80 and has terminal cancer)...mother nearly 70 both belong to the local rambling association and regularly lead long walks...I love to join them on the night walks...well the ones that end at the pub...guess i will have to drum up the enthusiasm again as they are putting me to shame
 
I agree with the walking getting rid of the fat belly thing - it works for me!! You just need to persevere and sweat!!! I go to the gym, swim, read and love the theatre and cinema!
