Easy syns formula

    Hi All

    Just wondering if someone can remind me of the easy way to work out roughly how many syns is in something if there are no free foods within it. I've made gingerbread over christmas, a nigella recipe, and I'm keen to syn a quater of a piece of it !

    with no free foods I always go by 20 calories equals one syn

    yep 20 Kcal = 1 syn roughly

    Have been in situations with nothing SW friendly available so this is great to know to try limit any damage when faced with it! Cheers. :)

    Thats the first time Ive heard of that, thats great, Is it a SW ok'd method?

    No it's not but it's a very rough guide if you need to know the syn value of things like treats and sweets that don't have any free food allowance. I wouldn't recommend using it regularly but in an emergency it can be helpful.

    i have bein told this only works for sweets crisps and cake biscuits ;)
