Extra Easy or Green Plan

Hi, many years ago, I lost 4 stone by following the Green Plan and going to class, then in 2003 I lost 7 and a half doing Green again but not going to class.

Of course, I stopped and it all went back on plus alot more.

So here I am now, 35 and weighing 32st. How I got here, is a long story that started when I met my husband back in 1996, I got more and more reliant on him to the point where I stopped going out for over three years. In January we found out my grandmother had lung cancer, so I had to start going out to the hospital and nursed her til she died in April with my dad. During that time my husband and I decided we would split as I would never change while we were still living together.

I'm now at the point where I have to do something, obviously I have had to do alot more for myself, something I wasn't used to, I'm doing much more exercise, while it's just walking around town or a shop, its a huge increase to what I was doing before, I've even started going swimming and to an aqua aerobics class (can't tell you how scared I was for that! lol) but I don't seem to have got the food sorted. I'll order a take away or have pizza from Asda, something easy and fast. I have a friend living with me at the moment and somehow I've helped him put on 2 stone in a short amount of time and I feel very bad about it.

I want to go to classes, but I don't think I feel ready for that yet, so have joined up online, but I don't know if I should go Extra Easy or go for Green, I know that alot of foods will have changed since I started doing it years ago, but I was wondering if anyone could help me decide, is there really that much of a difference, I know there used to be one HEA and two HEB, but on Extra Easy there is only one B now? Is there much more different?

I normally just read forums, never post and I would never dream of telling people my weight, but I really need help so I'm just going to try and get as much involved in this as I can, to try and get the support I need.

Thanks for reading and any help is much appreciated!

Welcome Hales.

If you know green and are happy with that, then follow green. Or, to flip the coin a bit, doing extra easy might be really good for you as it's new and different. It's a long time since you did SW, and a lot has changed including free foods, healthy extras and superfree so I would advise reading everything over and over again until it all makes sense.

Only you can decide which plan to follow, if you think you can manage on one healthy extra A and B then extra easy will be just fine, but if you (like me) like two of each, then stick to green.

The other differences are that you have to have a third superfree with your meals on EE (veg except pots, peas, beans, sweetcorn) and you can have red and green foods at the same time without weighing.

Good luck hun, hope you feel confident to join a group soon, it really does help :)

Welcome back to slimming world! I think which plan depends on what you like to eat. If you eat mostly vegetarian, then green is perfect. If you like meat, and you like your carbs, then extra easy is a fantastic plan - just remember to eat a third of your plate as superfree veggies and it works like a dream (well, for me, at any rate!).

Welcome :)

As has been said, it does depend on the kind of foods you like, whether you eat meat etc. I always go green because of dietary choices (vegan), but often when I went to group people tended to say they felt hungrier on red because there are less carbs. The same sort of goes for EE too, because you MUST have 1/3rd of every meal 'superfree': most vegetables or fruit. This generally isn't an issue for someone that does enjoy veg, and a lot of people tend to eat the 1/3 superfree anyway, but it isn't for everyone. If you like pasta, potatoes and rice but aren't so keen on meat and fish, but also struggle to eat lots of veg, I'd say do green.

Congratulations on making the step to come back :) Good luck

Thank you, I've had a good read after seeing your replies and I'm gonna stick to green, I can't eat meat and I do love potatoes and pasta, so I think it would be the best for me.

Just got to get into it now, I've just ordered shopping on Tesco.com after going through the list of free foods, got to stay away from the online ordering! lol its way too easy.

Hopefully I can make it work and stick this time. I have issues with eating 3 meals a day, I just don't bother, if I get into a routine it will stop me just eating junk because I'm hungry right now.

Hope you're all having good days.. x

:welcome:
If you like to eat fish and meat with carbs EE is great, although you only get one H/E instead of two. If you do EE make sure 1/3 of your plate is superfree foods. Also ensure you drink plenty of water on either plan.
Please keep posting here and let us know how we can help and support you.
Good luck with your goals - you CAN do this

Hi all thanks for your replies, I did post last night, but it needed to be validated.. think I might have put a link in or something lol

I'm gonna stick to the Green Plan because I can't eat meat, so I think its best for me.

I'm actually excited about this, waiting for my shopping to come, lots of nice fresh food, just have to think of some good meals to make with them now.

Aqua aerobics tonight, I'll be extra bouncy to try and work off some of this fat.. lol

Hope you're all having a good day x

Hi there. Not much else to add to what the others have said but just wanted to wish you luck. Also definately do the green if it worked for you plus if you don't eat meat there wouldn't be much point doing EE.
Is your housemate going to do it along with you?

Yeah I don't think I could cope without them both, plus I don't eat meat, so its a bit pointless for me, but I am trying to eat more free food, thats always my downfall!

Today is when I started properly, have been 100% so far, just got to get through the rest of the night :)

Good luck, Hales, you'll soon get back into the swing of it! :)

Glad you have decided and are feeling positive. If you want to swap green recipes, I do all green so might be able to help :) GOOD LUCK!
