Fresh start diary! Sticking to it 100% :)

Hey just here to subscribe...looks like you're doing great :)

Hey Laura,

Thank you! I'm still trying to get back into it... always struggle with the first few weeks! Will hopefully have a STS on Monday :)

Will check out your diary! :)

Morning Rachel,

How are you? You had a nice weekend? x

Hi, I'm good thank you :) I'm a little cold though! My weight is all over the place and I've stuck to the diet! Will explain in my post :)

How was your weekend? Did you get what you needed at shopping? x

I love BNS! Had it last night, so nice! I much prefer it to sweet potatoes.

I tried BNS soup once but it didn't quite work out.... was really runny! x

BNS SOUP. 4 portions (2 ladles at least per portion)

Medium BNS probably around 800g before deseeding.
2-3 good sized carrots
l litre stock. I use chicken oxo cubes, sometimes a Knorr stockpot too.
1 good sized onion

Deseed and cube BNS, leave skin on.
Dice carrots (I leave skin on) and cut up onion.
Put in a large pan, crumble cubes in boiling water and pour into pan. It may not cover all.
I still put in salt & pepper at this stage. Then more when cooked if nec.
Simmer till all cooked. Then blitz.

I sometimes add 1/2 levl tsp chilli flakes too.

It should be quite thick.

Hope you like it.

It is freezing!! I've got big cardi and boots on today as air con always comes on in office in an afternoon and it's ridiculously cold. Erm no I didn't...I went shopping for clothes and tried loads on and didn't come home with any as just felt fat and frumpy in everything so I came home with 2 pairs of thicks tights, a pair of flat shoes and my mums bday pressie and 2 christmas pressies for my god son. So it wasn't a wasted trip but came home feeling like poop haha.

I then had a very lazey day on Sunday....woke up at 7am as this is the time my OH got up for work...but then laid in bed till about 1pm just watching TV. I told myself I wasn't going to do any cleaning up as my OH had 3 days off last week and has 3 days off this week and he won't clean a thing so I thought I aint doing it either BUT at 2pm it got the better of me and I started cleaning up haha. I did enjoy my lazy morning though as I NEVER stop in bed at weekends.

What an awful weekend :(

I picked up my OH from the airport on Friday night and everything was fine, was lovely to see him after two weeks. Then on Saturday he was going to rugby, which was fine. I thought we'd spend the evening together as I've not seen him for two weeks but then he tells me he's going out with his friends for the evening! Of course me being me I got upset. Then it led to a discussion about how we want things at different points in our lives and how he thinks I'll go on to resent him if I have to wait ages for marriage and babies... it was just an awful conversation. I think everything is resolved now... I told him that ideally I would like one or both by the time I'm 35 - which is my limit! (I'm 30 now). So I guess we'll see what happens! He's married to his job, that's the biggest problem!

Anyway, because of this I ate very little on Saturday but then consumed a massive pizza! Oops. I didn't eat too badly yesterday, stuck to the plan, but I did have pasta which I think has resulted in too many carbs!

My weight this morning was 157.2, last Monday it was 155.8. But from weighing myself in the week (and pretty much every day) I came in at 158 - 157.8. So I think that was probably the correct weight for last week and that I've probably gone on to lose 0.5lbs of what I actually weighed. I hope that makes sense!

So this week I'll be mainly sticking to red days as I need to avoid the carbohydrates! My goal is to lose 0.5lbs a week. If I keep that as my goal then anything more will be a bonus! Will also need to put something up in the kitchen to stop myself from eating something that will take me over my syns.... maybe a bad photo of me in my undies?!

I know I'll get there... it will just take time! :)

Right... Monday morning - fresh start. RED DAY

Breakfast:
Boiled egg, bran flakes HEX B, Muller greek 0.5 syns

Lunch:
Tuna salad, mayo 0.5 syns, muller light

Dinner:
Smoked Mackerel 2 syns, BNS chips, courgette, runner beans, roasted carrots.

Snacks:
2 apples, chicken & ham slices, beetroot, powdered milk 1 syn, magic muffin (oats) HEX B, 28g cheese HEX A, options 2 syns, squirty cream 1 syn

Daily syns: 7
Weekly syns: 7/105

HI Nanny Doreen,

Thank you for posting the recipe! Can't wait to give this a try! I'm going to be living off soups over the winter, nice hearty lunches to keep me warm at work!

Looks lovely :) x

Hehe I've just had take off my jumper to put a cardigan underneath with my jumper back on top! I wore peep toes today so my feet are feeling the chill! It's dropped about 5 degrees since last week. Brrrr!!! I hope you manage to stay nice and warm!

I know how you feel, I've been feeling fat and frumpy this week. I hate catching a glimpse of myself in the mirror! I'm hoping by Christmas I'll be half a stone lighter.... plenty of time to achieve that goal! At least you managed to buy some xmas pressies :) I need to start buying, but I may try to make some this year, save on the pennies a little! I shall see if I can get a little shop up and running on etsy before then :).

Ah I love a good day in bed! I had a lazy one too. OH's are annoying.... they never do any housework! lol. I too try to lay off the cleaning but it niggles at me and I cave in... I think it's part of being a woman! We're perfectionists! x

Well you were definitely in the right to be upset at him!! I would have been exactly the same after not seeing him for two weeks. You are also not asking for much wanting to be married and have babies by the time you are 35, not like you are asking for it in the next year. Men are sooo selfish at times and it's always us that are in the wrong. Atleast the positive out of you having that conversation is you both now know where you stand and what you want from each other etc. Nothing worse than both being at different stages in your relationship and not knowing. Glad you have sorted it now!

I hope you have hidden your scales away now as that's the problem with weighing everyday...our weight differs so much from day to day because of what you have eaten and that's why I just stick to every Monday now, with no sneaky weigh-ins in order to get an accurate record.

Well one thing you seem determined this week for a good week so fingers crossed nothing stands in your way of a brilliant week. Good luck! x

Hi hope you dont mind me subscribing.I have a lot more than most to lose.Last year at this time i was 24st 9lb and 2 weeks ago i was 22.9 so have lost 2 stone albeit very slowly.I don,t go to a class as i am disabled, but have the books and doing it at home.I have started to get out a bit more and feel a lot healthier.
I get in a rut and eat the same things and then get bored so its great to read everyone else,s meal plan..gives me some fresh ideas.
My oh makes bacon and lentil soup which is free and delicious.I usually freeze lots and eat for lunches.

Thank you, I'm glad to know someone doesn't think I was over-reacting! lol. In an ideal world I'd have children in the next few years (and already be married! haha) but I'm willing to wait as I do love him. Part of me hopes he may come round in a few years.... but we shall see! I'll spend the next few years getting a good start on my business instead!

Grrrr to men (well some of them as I know not all of them are the typical stereotype!).

Yep I've going to hide them away now... no weighing for a week.... let's just hope it works out! NO SNEAKY WEIGH INS! :)

Hi Ann,

Of course I don't mind! I agree, reading what other people are eating and how they are getting on really does help with motivation and ideas, it really is so easy to get stuck in a rut! 2 stone is a fantastic loss and they do say the slower you lose it the longer it stays off for! So if you have a day where you go off track a little it won't affect your loss :)

I never go to class as I'm too scared! I'm not great at socialising with people I don't know, I'm quite shy! But I find doing this online is as good as going to groups, I think we get just as much motivation on here.

Oooh that soup sounds nice! How does he make it? x

LOL I am the exact same. OH works offshore and can have weeks off and still not tidy up but it is the little things that annoy me, he will clean bathrooms, clean dishes, hoover & dust etc but wont think to put on a wash, put his clothes away and other bits and pieces of DIY that he says he will do and never does. We have been needing the kitchen tiled since moving into the house 4.5yrs ago and I am still waiting. Told him a million times just to get someone in to do it but always argues that he will do it!! Ain't happening. Unfortunately I have just had my conservatory renovated and have no more pennies to get someone to do it!!!

Men

Indeed haha

MEN! I wish my OH would wash up and clean his bathroom! Nope... takes a lot of nagging to get anything out of him haha. We have a spare bedroom which is entirely dedicated to him.... clothes EVERYWHERE! Needless to say I keep the door shut and never go in... out of sight out of mind!! x

Oh dear. I'm sorry to hear that. My and my OH have had many conversations like that. I am 33 and we have been together for 11yrs. He always said we would get married and that he would propose in his own time but in the end I gave up waiting and I just changed my name to his legally. It hindsight I should have done it earlier as to have a wedding costs mega bucks and in my case would cause so many family rifts I would not enjoy it anyway along with the fact that I moved to be with OH 200miles away from my own - so where would we have the wedding?? No need to worry about it now. I dont want kids so that ruled out that sceanrio!

He also spends weeks away and this 1st thought is for me to pick him up at his mums and is already half pissed when I get there as he starts drinking with his brother as soon as gets in the door :-( Major discussion on that one put a stop to it though on most occasions.

Food will work itself out xx

Things we do for the men we love eh? How long have you been with him? I was quite fortunate that when I met my OH he was quite open and honest from day 1 saying that he wanted to settle down and have kids etc and wondered if I felt the same as I am 7 years younger than him but I am quite mature for my age and wanted exactly the same. We have only been together nearly 3 years but we have just bought our first house together and are currently trying for our first baby but I don't think he will ever get married. He's made that clear from day one that he's not a massive fan of getting married so I am happy with the house and kids and when we do have kids I think I will probably do the same, change my name legally to his :)

No I think ALL men are similar and you see this from talking to other people. I think you always think it's just yours until you actually speak to other people and realise they are all the same haha x

I agree with Rachel... I wish my OH cleaned the bathroom, hoovered and got duster out once in a while!! He does wash the pots occasionally but doesn't do a very good job of them and he will put the washing in and hang it out but that's about it! He also will take his clothes off and just throw them on the bedroom floor and leave toothpaste in the sink haha. But I will say he often runs me a bath for when I get in from work or will make me cups of tea and when he has been on nights he will bring me some breakfast in bed so I let him off for not cleaning because he makes up for it with nice little things like that. Although it does get to me sometimes when I walk in from work to have to cook tea, wash pots, put pots away then make his snap....especially when he has been sat at home all day! x

11 yrs is a long time! I've never thought to just change a surname, a good idea if you don't see yourself getting married. Weddings are supposed to be celebrations but from experience they cause so much hassle and stress! I've not had one myself but have known many who have and they have so many negative stories attached to them! You just wouldn't expect it!

200 miles is a long way to move! Where to did to move from and to?

Saying that, my sister was with her boyfriend for 10 years before he proposed (she's younger than me!) and they got married last year. They live in London and got married in York! Most of the family are from Birmingham so we all had to travel a fair way, a few people did moan about it! But it was a lovely day in the end.

It sucks when they are away so often! They forget that we've been at home missing them, they're just too busy doing what they do whilst they are away! Which in my OH's case was drinking every night getting drunk... too busy to even send a text. We need to get them into shape haha!

Fingers crossed the food will work out! x

Tell me about it! I've turned into a proper little housewife! lol. I don't mind it, but from time to time it would be nice to have some help! We've been together for nearly 4 years now. We've taken one step forward which was moving in together, but I don't think any steps further will be taken for a while! I'd love to buy a house but he's an accountant so he doesn't see the point right now. How old are you by the way? How exciting to be trying for a baby!! How long have you been trying for? I have a friend who's due on boxing day! Babies everywhere so I get very broody which doesn't help! It's good that he's told you what he wants from day one! It's taken me this long to get out of my OH what he actually wants! Took an argument for him to say he doesn't see himself having children in the next few years :( Oh well, I can wait, I just hope my body can!

It makes me laugh when I sit down with friends and we all moan about the same things, men really are from Mars! May have to read that book one day!

You're lucky that he runs you a bath and brings you breakfast in bed.... I once went into the kitchen and found himself making himself breakfast.... and that was when I was staying at his!!! Happens quite regularly.... does things for himself.... he agreed the other day that he can be selfish!! But he is very generous when it comes to going out for meals, he often treats me as he earns so much more than I do, so he makes up for his lack of help with that I guess :) x

Having a little giggle here as my oh is the same...he NEVER tidies up and doesn,t even realise there is such a thing as housework!!He thinks it all gets done done by magic lol.
We have 8 children,4 are mine to ex,2 his to his ex and we have 2 together...hectic when we had them all at home! Only our 2 teens at home now.7 grandkids and one on the way.
Today i had oats made 1/2 water 1/2 skimmed milk, with apple and sprinkle of cinnammon.
Lunch is lentil and bacon soup
Dinner is bacon wrapped chicken breasts with new pots, salad and sweetcorn.

Lentil and bacon soup

This makes a HUGE pan,so you might want to half ingredients

Garlic granules,salt and pepper
3/4 pk Asda cooking bacon with fat cut off
3 or 4 good size carrots,1/2 swede,2 large onions.2 leeks.3 peeled potatoes.Stock made with chicken or veg stock cubes.
