Gammon thread

I posted a thread a few days ago, suprised that gammon rounds Id got from Iceland were 4.5 syns each. We came to the conclusion that it was probably because the rounds were the cheaper bits. Well now Im even more confused because Adsa gammon rounds are free, why would this be? Im tempted to just have my iceland rounds as free, as they seem to be free from everywhere else.

I would have thought they would be free as well. Unless they are made with added fat? What I would do is use the syn calculator and see what that says. HTH x
They must have more fat in or something, as the syns calculator says they are 4.5 syns too. I was going to risk it and just have 1 and count it as a free food, but don't think I'll risk it. I will be buying them from where they are a free food in future.

OMG. Just checked the gammon in my fridge and its turns out that it is 5.5 syns  I just assumed all gammon was free as long as you removed the fat.

At least I know now.

I'm a raver baby!
Real gammon IS free, it's just some of the gammon rounds that aren't. The reason for this is that it is reformed meat and often contains extra fat plus fillers such as flour, oats etc. Real gammon is much tastier anyway, I know it's pricey but the portions are pretty big. You can get two large steaks in Sainsbury's for £3.39 which could do four small portions or two big ones.
