House Selling Question? Any Legal peeps know?

Or anyone in fact?

Finally the last stages in selling my house is upon us and we are due to exchange contracts this week.

Does anyone know, as the sellers, are we entitled to the deposit or at least some of it before we complete, or do the solicitors keep it until we complete? (earning my interest!)

We are not buying another house and will have equity when it completes, but we are renting and need to find £2.5k to put down as deposits/1st month rent. Wondered if we could use the deposit that our buyers are putting down?

Any ideas?
