How do I attach a link in a post?

I've read through the tutorials but think I must be missing something! How do I attach a link to another thread in a post reply? Lots of you do it but I just can't seem to do so!

Each post has a 'button' top-right of it which says 'Permalink'

If you right click on that, and choose the option "copy link location", then right-click and 'paste' where you want it, the link will be copied correctly for you
