I know how to quote a thread, but how do you do the thing where people quote lots of different people in one post, and all the quotes show in blue boxes, and they comment on them?

You click on the multiquote button and the background to the icon turns red. Then scroll down and do the same to the other messages you want to quote.

use the " button next to the quote button

Then scroll down to the bottom and click on "post reply" (don't use "quick reply"). Then a window will appear with all the messages you wanted to refer to, and you can insert your comments where you like. Then click the submit button, and there you are - it turns out like this!
