How Many Do Exercise?

I do a fair bit but its a way of life for me, i dont specifically do exercise to lose weight.

I do, however, have to cut down on the weights every now and again as i build a lot of muscle and whilst my clothes will be loose i will weigh more on the scales so i have to find a good balance between cardio and weights. I try to follow a 2/3 cardio and 1/3 weights programme to ensure i dont get too bulky.

"Exercise" was a dirty word!

I hated the thought of doing any "exercise" when I was 16st 7lbs! Now though, that's all different - I skip in the garden (using my grandaughters skipping ropes), I do 100 skips as fast as I can then sit outside for a couple of minutes or go indoors and carry on with the daily grind, then go back to skipping another 100 skips ...... and do this until I get fed up - I love the buzz it gives me and it gets my heart rate up!

I've also started the 10 week running programme set out in the latest issue of Slimming World magazine (building up to a 5k run) - I'm on week 6 and it's getting tough ......... but once I complete the day's planned activity it's really envigorating!

I'm afraid I haven't really noticed a difference in the weight losses but I honestly wish I'd had the nerve to go out there and try the running and skipping much earlier on in my weightloss journey, I could have been so much fitter by now if I had, and I might not have had so much loose skin to contend with? I'll keep it up though and get myself fitter and more toned from here on in! ;)

its an intresting problem for women isnt it, strength training. i dont think most women would prefer lots of muscle (even though it would speed up their metabolism).

so i guess like you its to find the right balance of cardio and strength. but for me, it will be both.

I've not done any exercise (I can count on 2 hands the amount of 'purposeful' exercising I've done) and have still lost weight. However, now is the time when I'm going to get started on an exercise regime because I really want to start toning up and changing my shape now that I'm nearer to target. Plus, I remember being around the same weight I'm now a few years ago and feeling 'firmer' so I'd like to get back to that.
