I’m back again for the third time

Hi everyone. As the title says, I’m back for the third time! My weight has been a problem my whole life. I started my weight loss journey at 24st in 2007 by eating very few calories and I even ended up only eating baby food for a while (not a good idea!), then when I was struggling to lose any more weight at over 17st I started the cambridge diet. I got down to 12st but it was a tough time for me. It was fantastic that the weight was falling off but I was so miserable. My skin went grey and my hair started to thin quite dramatically. The low energy levels made everything much harder and i was always tired. Going out to socialise was hard. Christmas dinner of a shake was not fun! Then as I was approaching 12st the weight loss slowed right down and I made the decision to come off when I was stuck at 12st. Then the weight just started to go up and didn’t stop. Since then I’ve been constantly dieting but nothing is working for me. I’ve tried many diets, calorie counting, paleo, 5:2, 16:8, 18:6(eating in a 6 hour window), healthy eating, only eating soup and only having one meal a day.

This time I’m going to plan to have one meal a day (as I’m chronically ill and that’s all I can really manage at the moment) and eat healthy, unprocessed food and only drink water. If I feel hungry I will eat something else but I will stick to a 4 hour window. I need to do this for my health and happiness, as both are not doing very well. No weighing for me this time round, just measuring multiple areas every week.

Sorry for rambling on. Hope everyone is well and I look forward to meeting old and new faces and seeing everyone’s journeys.

Charlotte x

Good luck on your journey, I am on Exante was doing ok then slipped a bit so I went to see a hypnotist to help with cravings and eating crap. I have lost nearly 10lb in 2 weeks since I had the therapy. :)

That’s fantastic Debbie! Glad it’s helping. Thanks and good luck to you too. It feels good to be back and it’s lovely to have some support. Take care x

Hi Charlotte

Welcome and good luck! I'm doing SW and doing OK, had a higher start weight than you, and I find that if I eat lots of spinach and broccoli, it really helps my weight loss - so perhaps you could have a bowl of that for your other meals?

All the best, Susie

Hi Susie and thank you for the warm welcome! You are doing brilliantly and it looks like slimming world really suits you. Due to my illness I’m not downstairs until the afternoon and I’ve never been a breakfast person so normally my first meal is my dinner anyway. It’s just the snacking in the evening that can be a problem. Also I struggle just to make dinner so making other meals would be an issue. It’s a great tip though and I’ll try and add spinach and broccoli to my meals. I look forward to following your journey! X

Hi
I'm also back for a third time. This time has been the most successful for me. I've tried SW in the past but this time I'm Calorie Counting. So far I've lost 2 stone in 15 weeks. I like the snacking part. I have a banana or something like that for breakfast and then snack all day until my evening meal. It works really well for me as I feel like I'm eating more than I actually am. My big mistake was not to take photos at the start or along the way. It's only now that I think I can see a difference that I wish I'd taken the photos.
Good luck :)

Hi! You’ve done so well. Dieting is definitely not a one size fits all lol. Most of us have tried multiple diets, some work and some don’t. I think it’s to do with our own personal routines, situations and I think it’s in our genes. I’ve done a 23&me test and there are gene mutations that make you more likely to be obese (which I have!) and how you deal with saturated fats. It’s great that you’ve found what works for you, I hope I have too. I would love to get past 12st so I know I can do it without the cambridge diet. Fingers crossed! X

You've done it before I'm sure you'll do it again.
I set myself mini targets to keep it realistic and find that has worked for me this time.
Are you going to be mainly calorie counting? I use the my fitness pal app, it helps me work everything out :)

Thank you, I hope so! It’s a good idea to have small targets. As I’m not weighing this time and only measuring I’m not sure how I would have targets other than not getting bigger lol. I could try an inch target but I’m not sure what’s realistic and I don’t want to get disheartened if I don’t set it right. I could see how I go for a month and work out a rough average. I’m not sure if I’m going to calorie count, I might just eat healthy and non processed and so how I go. My partner is doing keto and I use carb manager for him which is pretty good. I think if I were to start calorie counting I’d use my fitness pal though as there’s more American stuff on carb manager X

I wouldn't have a clue how to set mini targets for inches. I guess seeing them dropping off will be good enough incentive to keep you motivated :)
I'm following a couple of groups on facebook and one of them is mainly american but gives loads of good food ideas. I'm also following a Slim Fast page which is great for motivation even though I'm not following slim fast but it's good to see other peoples meals and results.

Yes inches coming off should do it lol. I’m measuring so many areas that hopefully I will have a consistent loss (please🤞🏻). I got really obsessed with weighing myself last time so hopefully this will be a bit more easy going for me. I will miss doing the weight loss challenges though. I’ve not joined any groups yet. MiniMins used to be really busy, especially the cambridge section, and that was enough but it does seem a little quieter now so some extra groups might be needed. Thanks for the great advice 😃 x

It is really quiet on here now. I'm on the calorie counting section and there's 2 of us on there. I think there are still a few on the SW section but everywhere else is really quiet. It's quite hard to stay motivated. Definitely worth looking for other forums or groups.

I had a quick peep in the cambridge area and even that’s quiet. There’s still great people on here though 😃

Yesterday went ok. Not the best day as I had some gluten free bread that was left over🤦🏻‍♀️ (it’s finished now and I won’t be ordering any more). Also I’ve realised that I can’t go without my coffee when I get up, even though it is decaf lol.

L- decaf coffee with soya milk
D- turkey breast, salad and gluten free bread

It was a struggle not to snack as it’s my time of the month and that’s the hardest time for me. I can eat my weight in crap food if given the chance! Hopefully by next month I’ll be in a good routine and it’ll be easier.

I’ve got the worst pain in my kidney and sides, along with bad period pain. I’ve had kidney stones this past 5 weeks and the stone pain has now gone but this new pain is killing me. I’ve got an ultrasound next week so hopefully I’ll find out what’s going on. There’s definitely no infection, my dad took in my sample to the doctors and I keep checking with urine sticks at home.

Hope everyone is ok x

I have decided to come off exante as since being hypnotised I have no cravings, and not much interest in food YAY. I am just eating small healthy low carb meals; and I am losing 1lb every 2 days which I am very happy with.

That’s brilliant Debbie! You’re doing so well. My friend had hypnosis for eating and it helped her too. Good luck x

Today has been pretty good. Only problem I was craving chocolate due to my totm so I had an options hot and that really helped.

L- coffee
D- turkey breast, salad and olives
S- options hot chocolate
