I microwave mine until they just start to go soft (heating up oven on v hot setting in meantime) then stick them in the oven for about 10 minutes.
Done quickly but still crispy.

1.5 hours should be plenty, are you sure the oven was on lol. I love oven baked jackets.

I tend to cook on a more moderate temp, like Gas Mark 5. But giving it a zap in the microwave for 5 minutes then baking in the oven is good. Cuts down the oven time and you still get that oven cooked taste and dry crunchy skin. Mmmmmm...

that happened to me too, outside was very hot and crispy but the inside was quite hard still after 1 1/2 in the oven, I've since learnt the microwave technique as prep before the oven.

Lol....crunchy jacket potatoes...not nice!!!

I tend to put mine in the microwave first like everyone else. I also do my syn free chips in the microwave first too and then slice them up for the oven (I guess I'm a bit impatient!)

I cook mine for an hour at 200 degrees. If you cook it on too high an oven, the outside will be done but the inside will be hard.

I do mine in the microwave for about 7-8 mins, then spray with Frylight all over and sprinkle liberally with salt, then put in a high oven directly on the rack for about 10 mins. YUM!

If you put them on a skewer (metal) in oven they cook much faster - think the skewer transfers heat to inside of potato. When I do them in microwave, I wrap loosely in kitchen paper first - not sure what the logic is, read it somewhere - remember to do it but not why.

I do that too. Don't know why! Don't forget to prick the potato too before microwaving!

My sister lost her kitten (in a bedsit!) It was discovered chilly but alive in the salad drawer of her fridge :gen125:

Do I have a strange family?
