Why is it, do you think, that people around you at work need to try to see you eat? Now we are coming up to Xmas, are you finding loads of pressure to join in Xmas dinners? Why cants you r workmates accept that you can just sit with them and still have fun without the meal too?

Do you think they are concerned about you having fun, feel you are missing out, or do you think they feel you sitting there not indulging will take some of their enjoyment away? Eating and drinking are such a large part of our socialisation rituals these days, I know I have had less social life since starting the diet and my mates think I am no fun anymore. But wasn't it our company they liked?

What do you think?

This drives me nuts too. "One day won't hurt you". "you don't need to lose anymore". I wish they'd understand it's about how we feel rather than how they feel. I just tell the that they're lucky I'm going at all. To be honest I will be on my up week by the time ours comes around (very well timed as I'm the one who booked it lol) just to try and get away from some of this!! X

Good weight loss so far eggie :D

Eating around dinining tables, picnic blankets, kotatsu (japanese table) etc with family/friends has been around since the dawn of time, in some cultures its a must! The trouble is when these feasts start getting closer and closer its just an eat fest.
In the good ol' pre fat days eating just a few morsels and having a laff' you could get away with it (watch skinny people), but I know exactly what you mean....the pressure is on, and CD is very anti-social as nil food is to pass the lips..:sigh:.
Folk are never going to accept you not joining in, so perhaps arrive late after the meal and just sip sodawater or just eat a few turkey slices and a brussel and get right back on CD next day. Gad it sounds so bleak. Christmas is a toughie.

I'm lucky (or am I?) no social engagements this year, so I'm hunkering down like a polar bear emerging in the Spring a new slimmer me....well that's the plan :p

My colleagues were like that to start with too however the have actually re arranged our xmas do for March as they said I am the "outgoing party headcase one" and it wouldn't be the same without me there :)

I do find though that they do get very jealous over my losses every week. I have got two ladies on slimming world in my office and one on weight watchers and they all get annoyed each week with how much I lose. As I said to them though there is no reason to get annoyed the diet is open to everyone and there is nothing stopping them joing CD. Their response was they couldn't live without food like I do, so to me it is their choice and they shouldn't be nasty and judgemental against me for it. Does anyone else have a problem with jealous colleages?

my collegues are understanding that i'm giving the departmental meal a swerve this year. we sometimes have christmas lunch in the canteen with our tutor groups, but they didn't do that last year, for budget reasons, so i can probably avoid that. if it does happen, i'll just say i'm not feeling very well. I've been completely open about my diet with everyone except the kids at school. I teach in a girls' secondary, and i think Cambridge is not an idea i want them to get in their head at such a vulnerable age.

Do you think it is jealousy? My workmates never said much to me about the diet, apart from one who was just worried it would be unhealthy - she mentioned it once and then never again. Otherwise they just let me get on with it. But when it comes to planning the office xmas dinner, it does seem that you not eating is somehow threatening their enjoyment. Maybe they need everyone to be a pig to justify their own indulgence!

lady where I work is very very much like this. eats a large amount every day but every time she offers it around before eating the rest herself (and normally keeps pestering until someone takes some). she knows I am on this diet and offers me something every day too, think she is trying to crack me!!!! :)

I think they care about you & just don't want anyone to be missing out.

People fuss about anyone 'not' doing something, not eating, not drinking alcohol etc....

They do it coz they care, think of it that way and it's quite sweet if them really xx

I was just mentioning this point in my CD diary!!! I am sooo sick of people at work trying to get me to eat!! why?

I have just started this job 2months ago so its not like they know me very well either! The other day they where talking about what they do over christmas and that they all cook a bit of Xmas dinner and i laughed and said ''well i will take part in the cooking but not the eating'' My boss and my friend from work then spend 10mins telling me that SURELY i could have a little veg and turkey and gravey! I told them it was MY choice and i dont want to! they continued to hound me! THEN today again they all started on me again telling me i can at least have something!! urmm NO!!

Do they not understand what i am telling them? They went on for 15mins about it and i started to get annoyed! THEN my friend from work phoned me again on her way home and told me that surly i can have some veg for Christmas and told me how she would make it and INSTRUCTED me on how to make something for myself low fat! I dunno what the heck is going on and why they are not listening to me and we aint even in December yet!!! Gah this next month is going to be fun aint it..... NOT!

I can join in Christmas for the rest of my life when i am nice and slim but i if i dont lose this weight now i might not be around many more! Its hard for people to understand... i am not just a ''little'' over weight i am HUGE and have A LOT to lose so i can not risk cheating or breaking the diet! Plus i pay £50 a week and i want to lose this weight asap and move up the plans. SS aint easy and YES i would like to take part in all there lovely meals etc but i really cant afford to take my eye off the ball and i NEED to be 100% focused and work always hounding me is NOT helping!

Christmas 2012 can be the year i go to every party going in my little party dress just not this year! Haha oops sorry think i went into a little rant there, was nice to get it out haha! :)

xxxxx
