Katycakes Won't Give Up...

Day 42.

Scales 12st 6.

Not waving but drowning.

I don't think the ropes are working, cannot even see the wagon let alone work out how to get back aboard. Working away today, 'public' event, ha ha... I am so not in the mood to smile and be bright and sparkly today.

I'll be back.

I promise.

We'll be here waiting for you. Hope your work goes well today. Bestest smile on and away you go.

The horses have stopped to rest for a while, munching away on some lovely green grass and drinking crystal clear water from the stream, so there's plenty of time for you to come back alongside to be hauled up. xxx

Hi KC... Here's what they tell you to do if you are caught in an undertow and are being pulled out to sea or under the water: DON'T STRUGGLE, DON'T FIGHT IT... JUST RELAX!"

I think you need to relax: take some deep breaths and go with the flow. Stop working so hard on trying to make the diet work, and just move on through your life letting what you are doing at the moment hold your interest.

I think when someone is "trying so hard" -- it is like when someone says, "Don't think about pink zebras." It is all you CAN think about.

Flow -- with your community service, your chores, your long relaxing soak in the tub, reading a good book, and when you need nourishment have your CD/something appropriate, sip your water as tea or flavoured, etc. And, do not allow the diet to take control of your life.

"Soften your focus" stop struggling -- and the undertow will carry you along the shore and eventually push you onto the land. You might end up a mile or so further up the beach, but you can easily walk back to where you want to be. You won't drown if you do this!

Wise words, as always Mel x

I'm so sorry you're struggling at the moment Katy. Don't panic - you WILL get back on track! Take some time out to read the Beck book (no excuses) and maybe review the work you've done so far. Then make a plan for getting back on track - maybe replace one meal at a time with a shake to make it a gradual return - only you know what will work for you.

I'm not really one to advise as I'm still in limbo trying to get my head in a place where I can focus on losing weight.

Big hugs and calming vibes on their way from Kent to Scotland! x

(sent from phone)

Hope the work day went well, I bet you sparkled a bit! I'm sure you know that your increase is very similar to mine after the Chinese meal I ate a couple of weeks ago, very temporary. Drink plenty and it will settle back down.

You aren't doing a Stevie Smith on us. xx

Big hugs Katy. Some wise words and great advice. I will just add my hugs x

Hey! Katy, you're behind schedule so what! Get back on track, you can, you've done it before. Don't allow youself to get as far behind as I have done........remember you don't want to undo what you have done. Don't think of it as starting again, think of it as something you want to do because you want to be in control of the food, the emotions.....not them in control of you(if that makes sense?!)

Morning Hunny, Hope you are back to your usual self today. How's the Beck reading going...skip forwards a few chapters to the 'Thinking Mistakes' and 7 question technique bit, i found this so helpful....talks about the All or nothing or Negative fortune telling, emotional reasoning, justification... stuff like that....makes lots of sense hun.
Sending you big hugs today.
Have a great day

DAY 43

Well, at least today I can start off knowing I haven't blown it all before breakfast... so that has to be an improvement. Yesterday morning was a bit kamikaze, full-on self-destruct, but a line was drawn at 10 o clock and the day got much better after that. I am so relieved, as I don't think I have ever stopped the sabotage early in the day before, always the sneaky 'you might as well go on eating' voice sneaks in and scuppers good intentions.

So today am back on wagon, feeling wobbly and not safe at all, but still aboard. Thank you all so much for helping me back up when I crashed and fell.

Chels, for the posts & messages & for stopping the wagon to haul me back on.

Bess, for the same. The scales reading in a funny way helped to put a stop to the madness yesterday... and today they say 12st 3 so as you say all is not lost. And I didn't 'drown' because my minis friends swam out to the rescue.

Mel, very wise words and I am listening. You're right, I know you are, and cannot tell you how good it is to have a lifeguard on the team!

Alli, you are right too... Beck today. And more reading in general, because the initial enthusiasm has worn off and I need to keep working on this.

Wales, thanks for the hug!

Emmaline, thanks for the support.

And Kira, you are absolutely right.

Thanks to all of you for posting, I read the posts last night and it helped a lot to know that you were there and wouldn't let me fall.

Editing to add thanks to Lelly - cross posted... yes, I will read that chapter right now.

Today is a new day, and it will be a good one, if wobbly in places. (Like me in fact...)

Good morning Katy - I'm so pleased that you are back on the wagon again. I'm crawling back on today as well so let's hold on tight and stay on!

Lots of wise words on this thread which has helped me as well. What a lovely bunch of ladies you all are!

Morning doll, so nice to have you back up on the wagon, Alli too. Horses are now fed, watered and rested so "Wagons roll"

Today is going to be a good day.....I can feel it in my water :D

Love and hugs xxx

Hi KC,

I am glad you are doing better -- and after being caught in an undertow or riptide it is not unusal to be a bit exhausted and shaky from the experience. Just take things slow and easy -- just focus on the task at hand, stretch and breathe.

Re: Book Groups

We could start an "on Minimins" Book Group forum, then threads. Any interest? We could do this "Beck Book" as our first.

How the FB group works is people were invited to join the group -- on MM I guess anyone would be able to read/post unless we got an administrator to start the thread in the members only diaries section.

Anyway, the Forum would be started with a title like Minimins "self-help" Book Group or something like that. Then, there could be a thread for each book chosens, and new threads started for new questions.

In the FB group -- each question is posted on a "new document" -- but there are little conversations going on in-between.

If you are interested in seeing how it works, I can "friend" you (if you FB) and then invited you to join the group. The group postings only appear on the walls of members of the group.

Thanks Alli, Chels, Bess & Mel. Interested by the book group idea, Mel, as long it isn't a time-eater... also with the idea of applying it locally to help the library. I like the idea that I was caught by an undertow too, sounds better than saying i was caught by a tin of chocolate biscuits!

Reporting in to say I had a bar at 12 and then a shake at one, too close together I know but a bar never seems to do it any more for me, might keep them in reserve for travelling and go back to shakes for everyday. I am off for a dog walk now with a friend, which will be good and a de-stress as well. Have roughly half of days work done, so need to come back & get onto it again... then an 810 tea. Yesterday on way home after work event I called into Tesco, where my fave biscuits were 2 for £1. I didn't get them, got veg stir fry instead, I don't usually buy ready chopped stir fry but it was a gesture to myself that I was going to be healthy. Didn't want to eat anything last night after the morning's atrocities, so it's tea for tonight.

OK... I have got this far. Just let me get through the afternoon and evening without trouble from the undertow! Off to walk and blow some cobwebs away (sorry Eric!)

Eric forgives you KC........at least I am sure he would if I could locate the little blighter. He has probably gone into the airing cupboard to grow some  Glad you are ok xx

Evening KC im glad you have got back on the wagon and dusted yourself off again... this is the way too do it.!!
