Lost my way...

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum but I felt that after what seems like an eternity on slimming world I may have lost my way. I joined SW back in Feb and I have consistently lost a lb or 2 every other week and had a few weeks with no change. I go to three quite hard core zumba and LBT classes a week and if I'm honest I work extremely hard in exercise but then seem to pig out a little and stray off plan because I'm feeling so hungry and I think somewhere in the back of my mind I think to myself that if I have just worked so hard in zumba then a piece of cake wont hurt! Well, anyway 2 weeks ago I finally achieved my club 10 target with an overall loss of 16lbs!!! I went to group this week and I have gained 3lbs!!! I have never gained anything in the entire time I have been going and although I've enjoyed the odd bit of cake or pizza I really don't understand how I've managed to put on 3lb with all the exercise I do.

Any ideas or words of advice would be greatly appreciated. I feel like I've let myself down by gaining so much in one week :-( and I have to find a way to redeem myself but in a healthy and positive way.

FANTASTIC WEIGHT LOSS- that's the first thing to say. Second thing is not to beat yourself up cos that will send you to the biscuit tin faster than anything. You have done brilliantly reaching club 10 (even with gain this week). Think of all the benefits that brings along with all the exercise you're doing. Perhaps plan a free snack for after your Zumba class which hits the spot and supports the great work you've just done in toning your body. From what I've heard about Zumba you get a real high from doing it so are you subtly sabotaging that high? Also important to remember that the amount you burn in doing exercise isn't always as much as we think so a bit of cake could immediately undo the work you've just done. Focus on the good you've done and try a 100% week with your exercise and then see how it affects your loss. Alternatively just be honest and syn your extras after exercise and plan syn free snacks when you would normally have had your syns. If your having little slip ups and your syns you are effectively guaranteeing a gain. Keep going.
 
Again, well done on your loss so far, that's fantastic.

Perhaps all of your weeks of being able to pig out and 'get away with it' have finally caught up with you? I'd try to get back on plan this week, still exercising, but without those extra 'treats'. I'm sure that 3lb will be back off in no time.
