maintenance with 5:2

I said I'd continue with 4:3 till I saw 9.2 on the scales lol. I'm going with it till I weigh on Easter Sunday. I've put 2 rest days in. A little bit at a time lol. I've always been all or nothing but I'm trying to find balance. If I change too much at once it's hard to see what is and isn't working. It's taken me a long time to maintain this size I need to change small things little bits at a time xxx Sent from my iPhone using MiniMins.com

Ok I'll let you off ;)

please try and listen to your body and be kind to yourself :) xx I hope one day you won't have to fast to maintain :)

When I first hit goal I fasted 1 day a week but then stressed with insanity as I gained 5lbs in the 63days. I now know it was muscle and not fat as my measurements were smaller but after relying on scales for so long I couldn't see the bigger picture. I'm restarting insanity again 2nd week in April and I'm prepared for a gain but wanna be ripped. I've used this non weighing time to really listen to my body, observe my body and focus on how I feel in my clothes. Totally different to before.

Fasting to maintain is a small price to pay to have 6 yummy days and only adding a second fast if it's a particularly naughty week. It's not just about weight but the health benefits too. I've been fasting since 30th September 2013 and honestly it's a way of life. I don't find them difficult and Mondays are by far my easiest fast day.

I think a lot of things are mind over matter and I know this is the only way that's worked for me but also the longer I do fast the better my eating habits so in another year and a half i may not be fasting at all.

It's funny cause the BBC programme that was on a few months ago showed I was a constant craver so the best diet for constant cravers was the 5:2 lol. Coincidence? I don't think do as I was always at ease fasting. Xxx

Hi! Love the look of your new plan and the rest days :) Sounds like you're in a good headspace.

Was just wondering if you (or any of the other lovely ladies that post here) think that TDEE calculators are accurate when they're taking exercise into account? Do you calculate yours with a certain activity level and do you 'eat' or factor in your exercise cals?

I base my tdee on light/moderate activity and I still try to undercut them by 150-200 for 2 reasons. 1. I don't believe that every 5ft 3.8" 34 year old female has the same bmr. I know my maintenance cals are a lot less and 2. I like to be a bit more naughty on a Saturday so think the undercuts allow for my sat indulgence. I don't eat back exercise cals as that's already included to calculate my tdee. If I was to do that I'd base mfp cal allowance on my bmr then eat back any exercise cals but even then the exercise cals are really just an average too. You'd never know your exact calorie burn unless you were wearing a heart monitor.

I think it's all very mathematical and my only finding is my bmr is less than average ( dunno if this is to do with genes, yoyoing or being so overweight before 16st 0.5lbs being my heaviest ).

Don't know if that helps or adds to your questions lol xxx

Yeah it does help. I didn't realised exercise cals contributed to TDEE, I thought it was based on what you body burns once you exercise regularly and gym cals were on top. So that's good to know!

You've also confirmed what I suspected, which is that mine seems really quite high and I should be taking it with a pinch of salt and working it out from a bit of trial and error.

If you don't mind me asking, how much is your TDEE compared to what you actually think you burn off?

Based on moderately active 3-5 days per week my tdee is 1843 and I can assure you if I was to eat that everyday I'd gain. Most definitely. And my job I'm on my feet all day. I'd say I can get away with 1650 maybe upto 1700. It's definite trial and error. Xxx
