Can i buy the regular mince, cook it and drain the fat off. Or do I need to spend the extra on less than 5%

There are people who pour boiling water over the cooked mince to get rid of any excess fat, but to my mind that gets rid of any flavour and texture as well.

You can't, unfortunately, get away from the fact that good quality meat is not cheap. Fat is cheap. If meat is cheaper it is often because there is more fat in there somewhere.

Sadly not - less than 5% is the only 'free one'.
You can syn the fattier percentage mince, but its high in syns.
