I've noticed the board is rather quiet at the minute.. if you're anything like me, you're feeling a bit miserable and demotivated because of the freezing cold weather, so it's time to remind yourself (and the rest of us) of your reasons for doing this!

    My reasons:

    1. Boost confidence
    2. Be more energetic
    3. Be able to wear whatever I like

I've ordered a little black dress which is two sizes too small for me; when I get it I'm going to hang it where I can see it to remind me why I'm doing this when I want to comfort eat :)

We just need to get through these few miserable months, then it'll be spring, it'll start warming up, and we'll be many lbs down and ready to bare all in our lovely summer clothes :D

Great post letty :) i was feeling down in the dumps today and the boards have been ridiculously quiet.. you're all snowed in you should be online ! lol

Spring is my fear.. i can't bear another spring/summer wearing hot bulky dark clothes to try and cover myself up, i want to wear nice sandles, have nice ankles and legs and wear nice spring outfits..

I wanted to do this last year and be gorgeous for my 40th birthday.. well i've still got 8 months before my birthday again so i can still look good in my 40's !! :)

I also want my 'soon to be' ex husband to be really sorry for what he's missing.. lol

Good for you :D I have the ankle thing too, how good would it be to wear nice sandles without thinking about "cankles"?!

Ahh please be my new best friend! That is exactly how I feel! Especially about the partying with friends part, I'm more likely to be found in on a Saturday night with a cup of tea than in a pub or club! :sigh:

Hi, yes, I have been doing the Rut Strut recently too !!!! I tried on one of my mini goals yesterday, my first party ensemble, not soo little black dress ( but not a tent either !!) and I don't look half bad !!!!

Agree with you Syren about Summer clothes too !!!! Big shapeless tees and XL capris will NOT be worn by me in Summer 2011........hehehe !! ( I also have some people in mind who I plan to wow with my new slimmer healthier look......the doubters with their negativity ALL the time !)

Letty I have done that too, hung up smaller clothes so I have to see them, good motivation.......

Let's keep our chins up, snacky hands away from naughty Festive stuff, and SLIM ON !!!!

    P.S

Hey Syren you are 'my side of the pond '!!! Though I am from England, now settled here !!!!

Yes the board is quiet. I'm a misery guts in this weather! Also feeling a bit bleugh about my weight loss slowing down, a lot of effort for little rewards so.........

I've been thinking of treating myself to a late birthday/early xmas pressie but can't make up my mind and here is where you can help......

This one.....2 in 1 Elliptical Cross Trainer & Bike: Amazon.co.uk: Sports & Leisure

or this one.....2 IN 1 EXERCISE BIKE & CROSS TRAINER Upgraded Model: Amazon.co.uk: Sports & Leisure

£100 is the absolute max I can go to, if I go for the cheaper one i can get a HRM that is on sale for £20, If I go for the more expensive one there is a better monitor on there but its obviously not transportable and I really can't make up my mind. I have used the first one, did just fine for 2 burly blokes and me (several stone lighter at the time) and is still going so I know it stands up to some heavy duty usuage. But I also like the other one with the non moving handles for when I'm too knackered or puffed out to work my upper body too. Decisions decisions...which one would you choose?

it's the one thing i look at every morning when i get up.. to see if my ankles are getting thinner.. lol..

First generation Canadian here.. family moved over from the UK when i was a little girl. Met my husband in the UK.. shipped him here.. now i want to ship him back !! lol

awww jonesy, it's horrible to feel that way at your age but you have a wonderful opportunity to turn things around while you are young and enjoy your life now without going through years of worrying about your weight issues .. wish i'd done this when i was your age.. good luck to you hun ! :)

I'd go for the upgrade Cat.. the regular doesn't have the stationary handles... i can't use an elliptical without them.. and it looks like you'd be able to do more standing elliptical training rather than sitting/biking with the other one. Just more options for you so your workouts won't become boring and you can challenge yourself better with the upgraded one.. and for the sake of 20 pounds it's probably worth it :) nice treat btw !!

This is out of any birthday money i got and any christmas money i'm likely to get. I don't drink, smoke, gamble or go out apart from to hospital appointments (woo lucky girl lol) so I think I can treat myself this once...getting a gym ball from my sister. My bedroom is going to look like a mini gym with the other couple of bits i have in there!.Really want a treadmill too because its one of the best exercises with emphysema...that will have to wait but i'll be keeping my eye open for one on freecycle and local ebay auctions. When its pick up only you can often get things very cheap!

I was going to go for the 2nd one but I really do want a HRM and can't afford both so still in two minds. I use to just rest my hands on my knees if I tired when using the other one

Oooh Shanny, you have about four months, loads of time to lose your last stone :D good luck hun xx

And sagethompson - I wondered for ages whether I should buy it or not, and I decided to just do it in the end. It'll only fit when I get to goal (or very close) and I LOVE it, can't wait to get in it! :D

It has been very quiet, I think people are hibernating!

Someone's opened a whacking great tub of Celebrations in the office  I've had four at roughly 35 calories each. This week is turning into a bit of a struggle... PMS is looming once again

Yes I can feel the PMS starting, my patience is getting shorter, that is always my first sign. Usually I can just let everything WHOOSH over me while just thinking "bloody idiot" but now i'm up to giving "the look" this time next week I'll be doing a banshee impression if I happen upon an idiot! The joys of hormones eh!

Well I had my 2 days of higher calories to try the kick start and I'm straight back on it today. I enjoyed being a little (HA! wish I was little) piggy but glad to be back on fewer cals. Because I don't eat high calorie foods in general it meant I had to stuff myself to get to 1600 calories and felt rather uncomfortable to be honest, overstuffed! Anyway I'm hoping its kick started my weightloss, weighed myself this morning and no gain from Sunday so a bit puzzled but quite looking forward to the results on Sunday...better be good tho or I am likely to cry!

I get really moody and emotional and just want to cry. I hate it!

Well done for getting to 1600. Fingers crossed it'll do the trick! I also thought this morning that perhaps zig zagging might help you. So if you're on 1200 a day you could try taking your 8400 for the week and dividing it up unequally over seven days, so you're confusing your body by consuming a different number each day but you're not actually eating anymore :)

I'm having a crappy day. The celebrations this morning, then a burger, fried potatoes and all the trimmings for lunch :( I went to the shops looking for something to wear to a party on Saturday night and everything I tried on looked pants, so I went and did the old 'i'm gonna be overweight forever so I might as well just eat!' thing. Now I'm annoyed but I think I've talked myself out of Burger King later. It's this instant gratification thing that always gets me when I'm feeling down. Damn it!

I don't get weepy, I get shouty! If one of my kids has a strop on I usually tease them out of it or ignore it but PMS means it is likely to end in a full on shoutfest. Luckily strops are rare in the house otherwise it would be a week and a half of ear splitting arguments! I know i'm doing it but find it very hard to control it which is infuriating in itself as normally i'm very laid back and even tempered.

I'm thinking off differing my calories more, or maybe have a higher cal day every Sunday. I've got too much to lose to be having statics just yet, especially when i'm being 100%. I double and triple check the values of everything unless I have the nutritional values in front of me, so I'm pretty sure i'm not underestimating calories. I log every last thing that enters my mouth including my no sugar, black coffees at only 3-5 calories a cup. I knew it wasn't going to be easy just didn't expect statics so early in the game especially now as i'm exercising more. Its not muscle gains either, its not that kind of exercise!

If I get a decent loss (4lb+) this week then I think I will either do 1 day a week or 2 days a fortnight at higher cals to keep it moving. And I must remember to keep taking my psyllium husk, it definitely helps with the water retention.

Off the top of my head

Alex85, he lists his diet as "eat less exercise more" and has done really well
Lozzy Gozzy, is a calorie counter and has done fantastically
Fat in the jing, another calorie counter whose pics are astounding, these were the first success pics I came across and has stuck in my head for the simple reason of how stunning she looked in her after pictures
