Not giving up on losing weight

Hi I'm Ellie and I'm new here and pleased to find this forum as am doing Slimming World online and find it frustrating that they don't have forums or facilities to really chat to other members about the trials and tribulations of trying to lose weight and natter about life in general.

I started my weight loss journey three months ago on the 4th April and my starting weight was *gulp* 30st and 3lbs. I am 42 and have had a weight problem for as long as I can remember. I have done a couple of other diets and lost 8 or 9 stone and then put it all back on again and more besides which I guess may sound familiar to many of you too. Would like to say I don't know how I got so big but the truth is I am massively greedy and eat far too much and hardly do any exercise so its actually a pretty simple equation haha. The truth is my weight and size have had a seriously detrimental effect on my life and it needs to stop and I need to start enjoying life more and improving my health and happiness and one of the ways to do this is to lose weight and I mean it this time!

Fast forward 3 months and I have lost 4st and 10.5lbs so far so things going well at the moment. I am vegetarian and at the moment things seem to be going okay...so far so good...famous last words eh :)

Hi Ellie :)

Thanks :) I am currently keeping the motivation hostage but could be persuaded to share for a small price haha :D I think it must be extra difficult for you working around food all the time, would test the motivation of a saint x

It helps that 99% of it is meat !! I'd be even heavier if I wasn't a vege!

Hi Ellie - I've been a bit awol lately but have been a member (on and off) of this forum for years, and these ladies are the best!

Everyone's here for each other, and I just know you can achieve your goals. I'm doing SW too - not online, I'm living in Italy now, but when I was going to classes i lost 3 stone in 4 months - so it's definitely doable :D.

Susie

Thanks Susie :)
Weigh in day today and have lost another 3lbs so am happy. If I am honest am a little bit gutted that I didn't manage another half pound as that would have taken me nicely up to the 5 stone mark but fingers and everything else crossed for next week :D

Lucky you living in living in Italy, hope you are having better weather than the UK today

Well done on your loss, and you'll nail the 5 stone thing - and more - next week :).

Italy is great, thanks, but it's very hot - 10pm and it's 28 degrees phew! Hotter weather is forecast...

Decided not to do SW after all, I realised I can't get a lot of the stuff you need here - Fry Light, Quark, cottage cheese, low fat anything - so am going to do calorie counting and hope the flexibility pays off :).

Good luck with the calorie counting, I think most types of diets work its sticking to them that is usually the problem for me haha :D

:0icanfly:A really good week for me, 6.5lbs lost, no idea how as been doing the same as every other week but am very pleased. This happened last month too was losing 2-3 pounds a week and then one random week when I lost half a stone, its weird!! Got my 5 stone SW award and not far off the 5 1/2 now so fingers crossed for next week :)

LOL it has been blooming hot, in the high 30s - but cooled down a bit now, thank heavens. Good for drinking lots of water though :).

Really pleased with week 1 WI - lost 7lbs :)

Thx Ellie but I managed to put some back on Week 2 - lots of socialising so I paid the price :). Well done on your loss hun!

Oh bugger, the price we pay for enjoying ourselves! Well at least you had a good time, I must admit I'm quite lucky in that I'm tee total so at least I'm not struggling with restricting booze but I have been suffering with going out for meals and just choosing plain salads as am not sure how other options are being cooked and where's the fun in that...does anyone genuinely ever crave a salad LOL :D
