So, I started slimming world on a Sunday. I know this was a bad day but my mum said to weigh myself friday morning because i will be drinking sat night before weigh in on Sunday. I have done and as aspected I have stayed the same. So, my mum begins to say ` see I told you your eating too much`

Could it be that;

A: I weighed myself too early ( i think a)
B: I am eating too much.

My thought process was...least I have stayed the same, thats a bonus for me! Please throw in your 2 cents. Is Sunday a good day? If I want to change it should I move forward for weigh in instead of back?

Ok my response might not be what you want to hear but it's meant with best intentions and kindness.

If your off out 6 days after starting sw drinking then are you intending on staying in syns or have you had your syns through week?

Do you feel your on track 100% or have you tweaked or cheated if your being very honest with yourself?

Maybe post some sample menus of what uve had. I think though if you already changing wi to be able to go out and drink within your first week I think is not going to help in long run.

I'm not being harsh, just realistic as you clearly want to loose weight and it's better to get a real opinion than say no Its all ok :) x

Also I would come out mindset that sts is ok.
Yes our bodies adjust and yes some weeks we sts for no explainable reason but I personally am never happy that I've stayed same I'm on sw to loose weight so keep pushing hard to get them losses.

Ive been on track...always do diets right and the best I can. Had no syns yet and wasnt going to have any till Saturday. Trust me I am doing it 100 % I am not one of these women who lies to myself...whats point.

I have a food diary on here and when out I do not drink like a loon. I have about 6 vodka (singles) and diet coke. Well that was my intension. Ive done sw before and ww and drunk in my first week and lost.

Just because you want a drink it doesnt mean i am not dedicated. Some people have chocolate or crisps everyday are they ruining it..no.

Sorry just do not see how having a drink makes me not dedicated

Sorry, but I think you've taken the reply totally the wrong way. Sometimes when we post questions on here, we might not get the response we want to hear. What you will get though is peoples true opinions.

Nobody said you weren't dedicated. The only thing that was meantioned re. having a drink was that changing your WI day just to fit a night out in is not realistic and probably won't help you in the long run - which I totally agree with.

Every time you decide to have a drink then, are you going to switch your weigh day? This seems to me like you're trying to "fix" what the scales might say. Honestly, I'd just stick with the original day you set, and weigh yourself once a week. Having a night out won't impact the scales that much. I know this because I'm a 21 year old Slimming Worlder who goes out most weekends. I have lost over 2 stone and I've done this by having at least one night out (sometimes even two or three!) almost every single week.

SkinnyJeans has given some good, realistic suggestions and I think your reply was a little rude.

No i am not switching my day for a weigh in after drink. Just mean should i change my day to say a monday and leave it at monday or leave it at sunday. Think theres been some crossed wires.

I did not mean to be rude and I am sorry. Too be honest I did not read it right..that can happen with boards sometimes. Sorry

The wonderful thing about this forum is we all come here for frank advice not anyone is perfect , you may find you get a big loss next week but there should be some losses first 1-3 weeks but from your post I would worry that it's to soon for tweaking things around. And being pleased with a sts.
That said no one should beat themselves up over a gain or sts and it happens to everyone but still keep striving for the losses.

I don't ever mean to be harsh I post alot of support on here it's never criticism and I'm not an expert just trying to help :)

I'm confused because it does say you started Sunday but changed your wi to Friday and weighed and ud sts because your mum said do it before you have a night out drinking.

Best advice I can give is this is your journey, your choices, ppl can help when there's a glitch and give suggestions and motivation and support but ultimately none of them are effected only yourself.

I used to make all kinds of rhymes reasons and excuses (not saying you are) I believed them so what if I have a different so what if I don't count this drink or this day off. I need a life to, why can't I have, I'm tired, I don't have time to cook, In reality only person these excuses effected were me n my weight. Now I thrive of ppls advice as it gets my losses down and to where I need to be. But also ive got rid of the I deserve attitude, ive eaten and drank to much that's why I'm fat end of. Now Its time to cut back I've treated myself last 5 years......

I used to weigh on Monday but changed my weigh day to Friday as my children go to their dads Saturdays so I usually do something off plan then. I thought Monday was a bit soon to weigh after the weekend so I changed to Friday. So I have a full week then to pull it back and see good results on the scales, mainly for my own sanity..

To be truthful...

No matter what day you weigh, the end result will be the same lol as silly as it sounds its true. Weighing on a certain day isn't going to get better losses or make it happen quicker, it's still gonna take you the same amount of time to get to target. But like I said I weigh before I know I'm going to be off plan for my own sanity lol.

Pick a day and stick to it, it's up to u when you weigh but it's got to be the same day every week if possible.

Never beat yourself up about a sts hun otherwise you'll end up feeling really disillusioned about the plan. Sometimes we sts for absolutely no reason...could it be hormones? Also, you've weighed two days earlier than normal...I very rarely see any loss on my scales until Thursday, which is the day before I weigh in. Take this week for example, I weighed on Wednesday I was 1.5lb heavier than last Friday, by Thursday it would have been a STS, but today (which is my actual WI day) the scales showed a loss of a pound. What I'm trying to say is maybe you just weighed yourself too early to show any loss you may have had. Also, looking at your stats, you're at quite a low starting weight anyway, you probably won't see losses as quickly as someone who's a few stone heavier :)

I'm assuming you're following the plan from home and weighing in at home? If you are, I'd probably say to move your WI to a Friday as you've weighed yourself on a Friday this week. At least if you do have any nights out over the weekend in the future you'll be able to work out how many syns you have left and carry on from there for the rest of the week :)

Enjoy your night out though hun, don't feel guilty about it, and carry on as normal afterwards :) xx

I would say now you are WI on a Friday then to stick to that, especially if you regularly socialise over the weekend. You might well stay on plan but I think if you have a few drinks and maybe a meal out, although you haven't gained as such, alcohol does mess about with your hydration (in the sense that you go to the loo a lot while you drink but then you drink loads of water the next day and your body holds on it to compensate) and you might have undigested food hanging about which might make you seem heavier. Having a WI on a Friday gives it a chance to flush out your system.

This to me is faffing around though. IMO and I fully accept it's not what ppl want to hear or is even right but for me only 5 days in having this attitude of don't feel bad have fun is what got me fat so it sure won't get me slim.
But im not everyone I wanted to get my addictions gone and settle into plan so I got my head in right place and want to try my very best to do this.

But this really is just my opinion, :)

I've never counted syns or even flexi synned on a night out. I've just got my head back into the plan the next day, the worst that has happened is this week which is a maintain and that's after going to a steak house, lots of booze forgetting to ask for diet coke, kebab the next day and KFC the day after that. I wasn't in a very nice place as someone had stole my belongings including my only set of house keys, whilst I was out so couldn't think about dieting for 3 days, especially with work men here all the time changing doors and locks. I managed a maintain. It's what works personally for each individual though I find, some people find that going 1 syn over budget makes them gain where as I can have a night off and still lose next weigh in.

The only advice I can give to OP is pick a day, stick to it, wether you weigh Monday or Friday, the long term results will be exactly the same. A stay the same is not the end of the world especially if your new to the plan. You maybe just need to find what works for you.

If we make her feel guilty about it though that's hardly going to help her mindset is it? And as she said she doesn't go mad when out drinking...6 vodkas with diet coke is only 15 syns anyway.

I did say it's not what ppl want to hear, and it's just my opinion. No one can make anyone feel guilty it's there choices and sw is great for choices, but as the op was asking for advice on sts and loosing weight.

It's like there's a group of ppl who loose a pound then go to chippy on way home to celebrate to me this is pointless but its there choices we all do this for different goals.

If you are confident that you are staying on plan then carry on doing so, take advice about your food diary and all being well you will see a nice loss next week. This is your first week so all is not lost and you have everything to look forward to :)

Can i just say I was never and will never be one of those people. However, at the same time I understand why some people go to the chippy after weigh in...if you dont give in to some temptation later on 6 months from now the temptation of nauhty food will attract and then it goes too far and the weight can pile on. As JD said, she had all those things and stayed the same, her body can take that. End of the day this is NOT my first time on SW I lost 12 lbs and kept an amazing weight on awesome food. I was just curious about the date and worried about my 15 vodka syns ruining my weigh in. Like someone said, if weigh in on friday it gives the body chance to detox. Also, I cant not have a drink this weekend as its my husbands birthday. End of day Ive done ww and sw and drank and lost it because I never use my syns or extra pro points (ww) to have chocolate puddings and other naughty food.

Also, I weighed myself after the loo this morning and I have lost a 1lb weighed myself in the afternoon and still lost. Thanks to you all for your advice, i am doing friday weigh ins.

Thanks again everyone I appricate your 2 cents :) :D:thumbup::thumbup:
