Reputations!!!!

rosinakathleen

Big, busty and Blowsy!
Altho' I am getting better at learning all the computer jargon, I am still almost a computer virgin! My son is trying to teach me to do things, and actually minimins is a good learning vessel.
But one thing really has me stumped! When I change things on my user cp I can see there are 4 reputations on there, and I can see 2 on my profile when I post.
What are they??????? Are they good? or bad? I'm thinking they're good as others have so many, but can you "give them" to other people?
Please help, and further my comp knowledge!

I will try to find a post for you that helps.

But quickly, you can give rep points by clicking on the icon below a persons details, that looks like a little grey tree (lol). You will receive rep points, but your rep power only increases once you have received 100 rep points (I think). If someone with a rep power of, say, 200 gives you a rep, then you will increase your rep power by 2 (I think).

Hopefully, somone else may be able to give you a clearer explanation x

thanx, Eclipse!
I never even noticed those "trees" at the bottom!
Well we live and learn!

Rep confuses me a little still but Eclipse's explanation is my understanding of it too.

Oh Taz, thank goodness for that!

I am so easily confused and that is my way of thinking on it, but I bet its not THAT easy really lol x

Oh thank you Taz!
I (think) I understand it.
Thats another lesson done, now if I could only learn to copy and paste (I think thats right!) My son is getting red in the face trying to teach me that one! lol

To strengthen Eclipse's theory, you had a rep power of 2 and I have 401. I repped you and you now have 6. So my 401 gave you 4 if that makes sense?

thanx again, Taz!
I actually understood that! (maybe all this is going in somewhere after all!)

Hmmmmm...... Must stop being so vain and start wearing my glasses!

Blimey Taz - can I have some too!!!!! Just joshing - but it must be nice to have so much power......

thanks for this! Useful to know )

I like the rep! I think it's lovely saying thanks for a good, informative or supportive post. I try to do it as much as I can :)

Ah...feel the SW Minis lurve!!

Pinched this from the intros section ;)

What is Rep Power:confused:

Reputation Points

Reputation are the green boxes that come up beside your name. The more green boxes the more reputation points that user has received.

How do you get Reputation Power?

you get one point for every 100 post you do. Also others can give you reputation points. When you have 100 points that then is equal to 1 reputation power. So the more points the more power.

What you can do with them?

If you like what a member has posted you can give them reputation and this then will help their reputation grow.

Some members now have rep power of 1 and others have rep power all the way up to 726 or more! Which means they can give 726 reputation points.

Also, grey/black box is shown by people who give reputation comments that elect not to show reputation, and/or have 0 reputation power.

You can give people reputation points by clicking the

reputation.gif
icon

it is at the bottom left hand corner under Avatar.

You can see the comments left for you in UserCP, but not the people who have left them for you.

This is how it usually works as explained by KD.:thankyou:

"If a person with a rep power of 10 approves one of your messages, it gives you 10 reputation points. If a newbie has no rep power and they approve your post, then you won't get any points from them (but it's kind of them anyway :) )

Your rep power depends on a number of things including how many posts you have made, how long you have been a member and how many reputation points you have.

The quickest way of upping your rep power, is to post loads and approve messages of people with high rep power, so that maybe they will reciprocate. In other words grovel :D

At the end of the day…it's just a bit of fun. Nothing to take too seriously.

Right....off to do some grovelling :D"

I must admit I still love seeing the 'new rep' thing, never tire of it, tend to use most of my daily reps up too - its nice to be nice :)
