Slimming World Lamb Bhuna

Hi guys , wondering if you can help , I’ve made the Lamb Bhuna via the slimming world app by the letter , step by step and even though I understand images arnt always perfect , mime always end up like a korma colour and not the dark consistency as pictured , I follow the method perfectly . Is there anything I can add to make a dark flavoursome consistency please , I don’t know what I am doing wrong .
 
are you caramelising your onions? so cooking them down so they are brown will add the darker colour
