SW Newbie

Hi
Have been doing SW now for 5 weeks and have lost 1st 3 and have a long way to go, how do people stay motivated in the long term? Especially when looking at myself it doesn't feel as if I've lost anything yet?
 
wow well done!! thats an amazing loss!!!! :) i think you just have to look at the long term goal! and then set urself mini goals in the meantime!
and reward urself when u get there!! like i want my 2st award - which im really hoping will be tomorrow!!! then after that i want to get to 30lb+ of weight loss and i have a "see how i feel" target of 10st for my 1st wedding anniversary, then my main goal of 9st 6lb hopefully by xmas! but we will see, just keep setting urself mini targets! and coming on here is amazing help!!! :) xXx

That's fantastic, well done you! I've only just started myself and can understand the worry of keeping it up longterm but as above, mini targets are key I think. Treat yourself to something new when you hit a target, not clothes yet but something exciting like, pair of shoes, handbag, book, perfume etc. Do your clothes feel a little looser? Another few weeks could be 2 stone off, exciting! What is your target weight? I haven't really set one, just going 1 stone at a time.

This place is great for support, if you're having a wobble, get on here quick!

I've got a long way to go too, about 5 stone 6 lb to go til I get to the target I've got in my head but even that's a stone away til I get to a healthy weight for my height lol I just think the key is to set yourself little targets. My first target was to get my club ten award which was 2 stone before I go on holiday which was a massive amount of time really I've got that award and got 6 weeks til I go on holiday now :) but didn't want to put pressure on myself. I try to keep my focus on every 7lb award, and not get too ahead of myself cos I think if you put on the pressure and give yourself massive targets, its when you fail!

In the past I've wanted results fast, where as now I'm thinking this is a healthy way of eating that I want to keep up forever.
 
I haven't set a final target yet Jenny809, but ideally would like to loose another 8 stone, I have another 10 1/2 lbs to get to my Club 10, a just trying to take it one award sticker at a time at the moment :)

Hi, 1stone 3lbs in 5 weeks is an amazing loss, well done you. I know what you mean, it can feel really daunting when you have a long way to go. I realised the other day that I need to lose over 5 stones to leave obese and just be overweight!
You CAN do this, and there is amazing support on this site to help you.
